Brent passed away peacefully November 2nd, 2016 just before midnight, age 60. Brent’s life was full of longtime friends, family, motorcycle riding to obscure places, playing guitar.  He was amazing, cooking great dinners (even if we waited til late at night it was worth the wait). Brent had an unbreakable bond with his nephew Grant. We will all miss his intelligence, humour and incredible sarcasm. Brent made his career as a stockbroker and was very learned in many aspects and always interested in researching things he heard about.

It’s not what it should have been,
It’s not what it could have been,
It is what it is.

Brent said he didn’t want us all standing around singing Kumbayah so join us in a celebration and a toast to Brent. Celebration of Life will be held in the Sequoia Centre at McCall Gardens, 4665 Falaise Drive, on Sunday, November 20, 2016 at 2:00p.m.

Donations can be made to B.C. Cancer Society in Support of Liver research.

I consider myself lucky to have had Brent in my life. He taught me so much, whether it be how to smoke a pork shoulder, or how to recognize my value personally or professionally. He was brutally honest, sarcastic, and incredibly loyal. Always up for an adventure, Brent knew how to live. He was a good friend and will be greatly missed.

I have a firm belief that the way we live forever is by knowing, stirring and teaching people the things that are dear to us. Brent, through good times and bad, was a loyal and wonderful friend. Over the years he has taught me lots of things, including cooking, motorcycle mechanics (both what and what not to do), motorcycle traveling, sarcastic humour and having a zest for life. I feel blessed in knowing Brent and take every opportunity to pass on what Brent has taught me. By doing this I feel he here with us forever more. He was a wonderful friend and will be sorely missed.

Brent and I became friends a very long time ago through the bond of motorcycles, investing, music, stereos, the fine art of sarcasm, his great meals and perhaps the odd beer or wine along the way. Brent was one of the most unique and refreshingly honest people I’ve known and I’m already sorely missing our conversations. There are so many reminders of his presence in just about every aspect of my daily life lately that his absence has been felt. Thanks for the memories Brent and know that you live on in the hearts of your many friends.

    My condolences to you all.

Brent was an immensely likeable and trusted colleague of my late husband, Peter.
When their workplaces diverged, they maintained regular contact with their Friday lunches, supplemented with Brent’s phone calls informing
Peter of “the buzz on the street!” Thanks Brent, for keeping him “in the loop”until his end.

I was fortunate to know Brent across more than 46 years. We were each other’s first loves back in high school, and that set the foundation for connection in the following decades. While I have lived outside Canada for many years now, and Brent was not one for writing, email or text to any degree, we caught up regularly whenever I came home to Victoria to visit family and friends. We then just picked up where we had left off. Brent played a key role in my life over a number of years, and continued to be part of it in a more peripheral, but still important, way from then on. I am deeply saddened by the loss of my dear friend. I am grateful to have had several visits with him across July/August, having a final taste of his cutting wit and hilarious story telling. I send my condolences to family and friends at this very sad time.
