With deep sadness we announce the sudden passing of our beloved husband and father. Norman is survived by his loving wife Elaine, daughter Nora (Peter), son Colin (Norma), son Nelson (Sophia), grandchildren Tiffany (Chris), Christina, Nick, Kieran, great grandson Brayden, brother Paul (Norma), nephew Jason (Susan) and their children Sydney and Zachary and niece Gina and her son Kalen.
Norman was born in Taishan, China and immigrated to Canada in 1950. Norman and Elaine owned Chan’s Restaurant on Oak Bay Avenue for many years. Norman loved his family very much and was always eager to help out a friend. He loved his daily walks with his dog and over the years made many friends along the way.

Our family will always have the fondest memories of New Year’s Day dinners at Chan’s Restaurant for many years. Mr. Chan was an incredible host and friend to us all and especially my brother Robin. His sharp sense of humour and wit will never be forgotten…
Our sincere sympathies go out to all the Chan family and friends.
Rest in peace dear Mr. Chan…
