Stella Mary Duben

It is with great sadness we announce the passing of our loving mother and grandmother, Stella who passed away peacefully at home on Saturday, February 18, 2017.  She was born on August 19, 1927 in Georgetown, British Guiana.  Stella was predeceased by her husband, Steve Duben, Sr. and will be lovingly remembered by her companion, Joe Kedmenec.  She is survived by her children, Steve (Annette), Albert (Ivis) and Michael; her three grandsons, Stefan (Janna), Adam (Abi) and Tyson; her darling great-grand-daughter, Stella Marie; her sister, Gloria Ouwejan; brother, Albert Rodrigues (Louise) and numerous nieces and nephews that loved her dearly.  She will be greatly missed by many extended family and friends.

Stella moved to Calgary, AB with her husband and young first son, Steve in 1956 where she resided until 1992 when she moved to Victoria, BC to live with her son, Steve and family.  She had the pleasure of helping to raise her three grandsons, Stefan, Adam and Tyson. In the last two years, she was given the gift of Stella Marie, her name sake, she was the light of her life.  Her pleasures were her grandsons, gardening and dancing with Joe.  Joe and Stella enjoyed many years of dancing at the Pro Pat Legion.  Stella loved to sing and sang for the seniors for a number of years at the Oak Bay Lodge.  She enjoyed life to the fullest and was most annoyed when she couldn’t do everything she wanted to do.  Mrs. “D” will be dearly missed.

Relatives and friends are invited to Prayers at St. Patrick’s Roman Catholic Parish, 2060 Haultain, Oak Bay at 8:00 p.m. on Thursday, February 23, 2017.  Funeral Mass with a reception to follow in the Church Hall will be held at St. Patrick’s at 11:30 a.m. on Friday, February 24, 2017.
