Olivia Wells

April 24, 1930 – December 2, 2022

April 24, 1930 – December 2, 2022

Our dearest Olivia passed away peacefully in the early hours of December 2nd.  She was surrounded by the love of her family in her final days.  Born in Middleton, Prince Edward Island to Wilfred and Isobel Craig, Olivia had many happy memories of growing up in the farm with her two brothers and two sisters and she loved to share her early life there with us all.

She ventured out west as a young woman where she met Bob and they were married in 1950.  They settled in West Vancouver where they raised their 4 children and in 1972 began a new chapter in their lives, moving to Gibsons where they owned and operated “Quality Farm Supply”.  Over the years they expanded and it became a garden and pet store as well, eventually taken over by son David and his wife Betty.  Olivia was very active in the community, volunteering with the hospital auxiliary, helping in bake sales, and bowling!

She made some very dear friends over the years and was sure to keep in touch with them all.  Bob and Olivia treasured their 45 happy years living on the Sunshine Coast.  In 2017 they moved to Victoria to be close to their daughters.  Olivia radiated love and warmth to all that knew her.  Her love for her family was ever present and she was the happiest when all her “dear ones” were together.

Predeceased by her parents and brothers John and Arthur and her dear little dog Ozzie, Olivia will be deeply missed and forever loved by her husband Bob, son Donald (Dawn) daughter Louise (Art), son David (Bette), daughter Diane (Steve), grandchildren Kevin, Ryan, Nicole, Natalie, Heather, Nick, Kristen, Lindsay, Carlee, Lauren and Emily, 15 great grandchildren, her dear sisters Louise (Greg) and Cathy, brother-in-law Ken (Bette) and her many nieces and nephews all of whom she held dear.

A celebration of life will be held at a later date.

Condolences may be offered to the family below.

  1. Just learned of Olivia’s passing tonite (6/15/2025) from our cousin Pat Sheridan- so sorry to hear about this at this late date—my mom, Jean Craig was Olivia’s aunt – her father and my mother were brother and sister- we remember Olivia and Bob’s visits to my Mom’s place in Lakeside, California many years ago

  2. I just discovered that my cousin Olivia passed away 2-1/2 years ago. Olivia’s father, Wilfred, was a brother of my mother, Florence. Because Wilfred was so much older than my mom, her and Olivia were relatively close in age, and affectionately very close. My late mom loved her so much!

I’ve always felt a special bond with Olivia due to something my mother told me many years ago. Shortly after giving birth to me in December of 1955, my mom had to go into the hospital for extensive surgery due to a cancer diagnosis. Olivia dropped by the house to see how my dad was making out with me, just two months old at the time. When Olivia saw that my dad was in over his head, she apparently just scooped me up and took me back home to her place to look after me! I will forever cherish the memory of that story.

My most sincere condolences to Bob and the entire family. Olivia was such a sweetheart.

  3. We were so sorry to read of Olivia’s passing. Our condolences to Bob and family at this difficult time.

  4. So saddened to hear of your mom’s passing, David and Betty… my thoughts are with you and your family at this difficult time

  5. Our sincere sympathy to Bob and family. We remember you well from the many times you brought Ozzie to stay with us at Castle Rock. Poor Olivia was always apologizing for Ozzie’s behaviour but, we loved him as much as she did. Olivia was always so gracious and appreciative and we know she will be missed by all who knew her.

  6. Olivia was a kind and very thoughtful lady, such a pleasure to have known her. My condolences to Bob and her family.
