August 3, 1942 – April 14, 2024

It is with sadness that we announce the passing of Robert, after a sudden decline related to a private battle with cancer, April 14 2024.

Robert was born in Kenora, Ontario but raised in Winnipeg where he studied at the University of Manitoba in civil engineering and business management. After a successful corporate career in the petro-energy and food industries, he located to Victoria with his family forging a new career in real estate with DFH and Remax Camosun.

Robert is survived by his wife Wendy and children, Jenni (Christian) and Robin (Katie), and granddaughters, Stella and Sloane.

Throughout his time in Victoria, Robert was active with Saanich Rotary, and found great camaraderie in retirement with friends in Uplands Probus. From the late 60s, he enjoyed almost every summer at his favourite place in the world, the cabin he built on Lake of the Woods.

Friends and family are invited to celebrate Robert’s life at the family home in Sidney, Saturday, April 27, 2024, between 2:00 and 5:00 pm. RSVP is requested.

In lieu of flowers, please make directed donations to the BC Cancer Foundation. Please contribute soon — donations made before May 31, 2024, will be matched.

Condolences may be offered to the family below.

  1. Dear Wendy and family, sorry to hear of Robert’s passing. He will be missed my many. He was a member of our real estate Mentor Group of 30 years. It was always a good talk when we met over the decades and to see how he and the family were doing. Lots of fond memories.

  2. Hi Wendy, I was so sorry to hear of Robert’s passing. Thinking about you and also remembering Robert from many happy events at Saanich Rotary. And of course he found Bill and I our house here in Sidney. Wishing you all the best for the difficult days ahead and hope to see you soon.

  3. Our condolences to the (extended) family and friends of Robert. I merely new him as a child when we visited from overseas and from Jenni’s stories. But I remember him vividly as a happy man with lots of love jn him. He will be missed by so many.

Share the happy memories together for a long time to come. Alisia, Paul, Noa and Ivo Willems-Peters (Netherlands)

  5. I am deeply sorry to hear about the loss of Robert. He was a remarkable man who not only had a successful career but also touched the lives of many with his kindness and generosity. I always admired how dedicated he was to his family and how enthusiastically he embraced his community in Victoria. His presence at the cabin on Lake of the Woods will be sorely missed, a place that was clearly close to his heart. My heartfelt condolences go out to Wendy, Jenni, Robin, and the entire family during this difficult time. May the love and memories you shared with Robert bring you comfort and strength.
