It is with deep sorrow and love that we announce the passing of Leslie Denise Ivens, who left this world on July 3, 2025 after a life marked by both extraordinary strength and profound loss.
A proud and lifelong member of the New Democratic Party and a devoted public servant, Leslie believed in the power of collective action and the importance of standing up for what is right. Her loyalty to the causes she believed in was matched only by her loyalty to the people she loved.
Leslie was a beacon of resilience, having endured the heartbreaking loss of her father, mother, and brother before her own passing. Through each sorrow, she carried their memories with grace, honouring them in the way she lived—with compassion, courage, and an unwavering spirit.
Born in Victoria on September 8, 1963, Leslie was known for her warm heart, infectious laugh, and the quiet strength that inspired everyone who knew her. She gave generously of her time and love, always putting others before herself, and never letting grief harden her heart. Among her greatest joys were her beloved dogs, who were not just pets but cherished companions and family. They were a source of comfort, laughter, and unconditional love,
Though her path was not easy, she walked it with grace, grit, and an unshakable sense of purpose. Her legacy is one of love, loyalty, and the quiet power of perseverance. She will be deeply missed and forever remembered by all who had the privilege of knowing her.
A celebration of Leslie’s life will be held at 2pm on July 28, 2025 at McCall Gardens & Sequoia Centre, 4665 Falaise Drive, Victoria BC. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made in her memory to the Victoria Hospitals Foundation.
May she rest in peace, reunited with those she loved so dearly.
Condolences may be offered to the family below.

Jamie Gripich I will always remember Leslie who thought the best of people first. There was no quiz, hoops to jump through. She was an open spirit and if you were her friend, that’s how you stayed. No matter how long it had been since you saw her last, she always lit up and was happy to see you. She deserved better than she received – to be given as generously as she gave. She was a proud New Democrat and someone I am proud to have called “sister.”
