Linda Helen Christine Gallacher (nee MacKenzie)
It is with great sadness that the mother of our family passed away on June 29th, 2025, at Kiwanis Pavilion, Victoria BC at 75 years of age. Wife to Gordon, mother to Iona and Kyle, mumsy to Adam, and Grandmother to Lilly and Eva.
Linda was born in Inverness, Scotland on April 9th, 1950. She went to Aberdeen College of Education where she met Gordon. She taught for 4 years in Scotland, followed by 6 years in Prince Albert after immigrating to Canada. Linda and Gordon were married in 1980 in Prince Albert, Saskatchewan and then moved to the West Coast, Vancouver Island, to raise a family. They lived at Sproat Lake (Port Alberni) for 29 years before moving to Sidney, BC in 2013.
Linda loved to dance and became a Scottish Country Dance Teacher for over 20 years, later also giving ballroom dancing a try. She volunteered as a friendly caller to provide companionship to others. Mom loved to laugh and enjoyed music sessions and guitar in Sidney.
Although Alzheimer’s disease took her from us, we cherish the memory of our beautiful, caring, loving, compassionate, brave, and strong lady and miss her dearly.
Condolences may be offered to the family below.
