Mary Teresa Burrows passed away peacefully on July 26, 2025, in Victoria, BC.  Born in Newcastle upon Tyne, England, Mary arrived in Canada as a war bride in 1945.  She settled into life with her husband Bob (May 2010) in Victoria.  Together they raised six children; Bob (Joette), Lynne Smith (David), Don (Sept. 2010), Walt (Tina), John (Pat), and Anne Thompson (Tom).

Mary was “Granny” to Brady (Renee), Jeremi (Mallory), Amanda, Aaron, Andy, Nicole (Ryan), Adam (Meghan), Ryan (Angie), Lance (Lindsay), Sarah (Phil), and Kelly (Phil).

She was “GG” to Adriana, Sienna, Josh, Bailey, Jack, Nate, Dillyn, Avery, Connor, Evan, Ethan, George, Owen, Kobe, Kruz, and Milla.

We celebrated Mary’s amazing life and legacy at her 100th birthday in January.  She was the consummate matriarch of our large family and will be greatly missed by us all.

Special thanks to the nursing staff of 4South RJH, and to the amazing Pat Rose, who provided friendship and endless support to Mary.

Condolences may be offered to the family below.

Mary and I were good friends – having worked together for many years at the Olde England Inn. Many people thought we were sisters! She had a great sense of humour. My condolences to the Burrows family.

Mary and I had too many great memories to mention here when we worked together at the Olde England Inn but the one that will always stand out is when she hosted my first baby shower. We had an amazing lunch and so much fun at her home.

Sad to hear that Mary has passed. Will always remember her from Shawnigan lake and Sunday night roast beef dinners cooked at her trailer.
