Anne Lun (Lun Sau Mui)

Anne Lun (Lun Sau Mui), beloved mother, grandmother, artist, and storyteller, passed away in Vancouver, BC, in August 2025 at the age of 87.

Born in China in 1938, Anne’s life was a tapestry woven with resilience, creativity, and unwavering love for her homeland. A survivor of the Cultural Revolution, having to move to Hong Kong at a young age to support her family and then to Canada in 1970. She carried the weight of history with grace—supporting her family through hardship and courageously helping many loved ones find a new beginning in Canada.

Her passion for the arts was profound. She found beauty in the brushstrokes of Chinese calligraphy, the elegance of classical music, and the written word. Anne was a voracious reader and a gifted writer, authoring a Chinese-language book that traced the rich legacy of her ancestor—a tribute to heritage and memory.

She studied English later in life, embracing learning with the same tenacity that defined her spirit. Her strength was quiet but fierce; she fought for everything she believed in, and for everyone she loved.

Anne is survived by her three children, Jeannie Leung (Tom Kin), Amy Leung (Albert Sum) and Jack Leung (Christina Leung) and seven grandchildren, Jada Leung, MacKenzie Leung, Kasia Kin-Leung, Cole Leung, Brad Sum, Daniel Sum and Connor Sum each of whom carries forward her wisdom, warmth, and indomitable will. Her legacy lives on in the stories she told, the lives she touched, and the love she gave.

A Service will be held in the Sequoia Centre at McCall Gardens, 4665 Falaise Drive, Victoria, BC on Friday, September 5, 2025, at 2:00 p.m.  All who knew and loved Anne are welcome to attend.
