sarahjane fleury I still don’t feel ready to write a remembrance for Suzanne. Except to say I love her very much and my life is rich and deep because she is forever a jewel in it. From her brilliant smile, her thoughtful and inspiring poems, in her generous feedback to our writing group over the past fifteen years, and the way she welcomed me into her home and heart, all I ever felt was love. My heart goes out to everyone who is missing her. I have this image of our love for Suzanne radiating out from each of us and meeting at that point from which her essence still shines forth. What a force and comfort that is!

Diana Hamilton My heart weighs so heavily upon my sole. Suzy, where did you go so suddenly? Only days ago we ate and drank together, walked together, laughed together. Although you lived on the other side of the country, the distance melted away when we connected. Of all the many joyous moments, gardening together, at our home, once your home, in Toronto, at the seashore in New Brunswick, and hiking and skiing in the forests of Haliburton, revelling in the beauty of your garden in Victoria, these are among the greatest times, I miss you deeply and will look for you among the flowers and the trees.

Shelley Evans Suzanne possessed a sincere combination of effervescence and joyful practicality. Her hardworking nature shone in her gardens, her many home projects, her writing and dedication to making the world better in a sweet and measured manner. I was so fortunate to share participation in a writing group twice monthly for almost twelve years…so privileged to have spent time with Suzanne’s beautiful spirit during that time. Heavy-hearted condolences to all her loved ones. We will miss you Beautiful One

Karoline Since April last year I met Suzanne every two weeks at the Koffi cafe in Fernwood, shooting the breeze, laughing and having deep conversations. She enjoyed talking about her family, friends, partner and the Fernwood community, as well as her garden, travels and latest knitting project, a sweater for her little grand niece.
She has lived large and has touched many lives.
I am grateful that I was one of them.

Cynthia Smith I met Suzanne in 2022 as a caring English teacher to a woman who was leaving Afghanistan and who now resides in Victoria. Besides her teaching, I’ll remember her as a fun personality, supporter of many feminist causes and her interest in what was happening in my life when she had so much going on in hers! My sincerest sympathy. She is missed!

Peter So sad to learn of Sue’s passing. In so many locations , over so many years around so many kitchen tables, we always had such great conversations about so many topics. Through them all, so knowledgeable, so well informed yet like all members of the first-born network she was always a great listener . It made her a great friend to all who had the fortune to know her.
Rest in peace Cousin Suzie
