John Papaloukas, affectionately known as “Pappy,” beloved son, husband, father, and friend, passed away on August 10, 2025, in his parent’s village in Greece. John leaves behind his devoted wife, Marvelee; cherished sons, Loukas and Alexander; brother, George; sister, Aspa; and many loved extended family members and friends.
John’s boundless love for his family, friends, and community defined his life. His generous spirit and optimism touched all who knew him, creating lasting memories through his kind heart and sense of humour. From quiet conversations to laughter-filled gatherings, John’s ability to form deep connections brought people together. John found joy in entrepreneurial ventures and in celebrating his Greek heritage. His legacy of family, love and connection will continue to inspire all who were fortunate to know him.
A service to commemorate John’s life and faith will be held at the Victoria Greek Orthodox Church on Elk Lake Drive starting at 1:00 PM on Wednesday, September 3, 2025. All are welcome to join in honouring Pappy’s remarkable life. In lieu of flowers, a gift to your favourite charity or to support the boys by way of cheque made payable to Loukas and Alexander Papaloukas would be greatly appreciated.
Rest in peace, Pappy, may your memory be eternal.
Condolences may be offered to the family below.

Alan Thomas Marvelee, Loukas and Alexander: I was so sorry to hear about John. As everyone says, he was an incredible person and a joy to spend time with. We met occasionally for coffee and he always had a big smile on his face and his energy was infectious. I’m really going to miss that. Sending prayers for John and wishing you all the best during this difficult time. Alan, Heather, Grace, Ryan

john Vlahandreas There will never be another!!! his huge heart, memory of friends long and far away would amaze the normal person. My heart is torn. I will miss our calls about the Raiders and the past trips together. It’s an amazing friendship that started on a rugby field 44 years ago 1200 miles from Victoria and restarted in Corfu, Greece a few years later. I will miss him dearly. All my love to Marv, Loukas and Alexzander. You were gifted with the greatest husband and dad that God put on this earth.

Annette O'Hara I am saddened to hear of John’s passing. He was instrumental in helping me purchase my first home. I always felt God put John’s at the right place at the right time to make that happened.
My mom is visiting me and she always asked about how he’s doing. He had such a loving, gregarious, infectious spirit with a never ending humor.
To Marvelee and the boys, words will never be enough to bridge the gap of your loss, but I pray that you always have hope that one day, you will be reunited as a family in the next life!
With sincerity,
Annette O’Hara (Fraser) and Vesta Fraser

Dimitri Adamopoulos My deepest sympathies & condolences to Marvelee, Loukas, Alexander, & the entire Papaloukas family.
John & the Papaloukas family were among the first members of the Greek community we had met in 1980’s.
John was a story teller that had a great sense of humor. A very creative entrepreneur, who was a good businessman. John was a people person, and he was very social.
He was a family man, and he also cared deeply for the Greek community. A proud Canadian who had a deep respect for his Greek roots and culture.
John you will be missed, God bless you my friend.
Sincerely,
Dimitri Adamopoulos
