With great sadness the family of Brian ‘Luther’ Lindsay announce his passing on August 9, 2025, at Royal Jubilee hospital while surrounded by family.
He leaves behind his wife of 64 years Sheila, children Chris (Carynn), Brenda, Sandra and grandchildren Evan, Hayden and Munro. He was predeceased by his father George, his mother, Eleanor, his brother, Robert, and his sister, Laurel.
Brian was a firefighter with the Victoria Fire Department for 33 years, retiring as an Assistant Chief. Often outspoken in his ways, his teachings were to drive home that firefighting was a dangerous business and a mistake could mean death or serious injury to yourself or your fellow firefighter.
He was a member of the Gorge Vale Golf Club for 56 years serving as both Club Captain and Club President. As a left-handed golfer, he was actively involved in the B.C. Left-hander’s Golf Assoc. which provided him and his family many opportunities to travel the world.
Besides golf, Brian had many other passions including soccer, fishing, hunting, watching his grandchildren’s sporting activities, spending his winters with Sheila in Thousand Palms California, and most importantly socializing with his many friends and family.
Brian will be remembered as a big guy with an even bigger heart. He will be missed.
A Celebration of Life will be held at Gorge Vale Golf Club, 1005 Craigflower Road, Victoria, BC, on Wednesday, September 17, 2025, from 1:00pm to 4:00pm.
In lieu of flowers please donate to the Heart and Stroke Foundation at www.heartandstroke.ca

John Phillion Brian and I enjoyed many a Golf game at Gorge Vale . Brian gave much more to the game than most .
We also played together in several Cancer Classics in the old days and enjoyed many social dinners following . Sadly as Brian’s health began to fail a Game at Tri Palm Estates will have to wait .
Rest well you deserve it .
