McCONNELL, Margaret Ellen (nee McLelan) passed away peacefully on the 2nd of September 2025 in Victoria, B.C. at of the age of 97. She is predeceased by her loving husband of 59 years, William (Bill) McConnell. Margaret (Mom, Grandma, GG) was always recognized as the matriarch of the family. Her dedication and devotion to family and friends was boundless. Mom is lovingly remembered by daughters Lorie (Bernie, deceased) and Valerie (Phil); grandchildren Peter (Liisa), Mark (Sandy), Kyle (Olanda), Logan (Lauren), Brandon (Haley) and Geoff; great grandchildren Jacob, Zachary, Ryder, Zoey, Maya, Eleanor and Holden; as well as many nieces and nephews. Margaret was born in Vancouver, B.C. in 1928 and spent her youth in Cloverdale, B.C. She was a graduate of York House School in Shaughnessy, Vancouver, B.C. Margaret met Bill in Cloverdale where he was stationed with the RCMP. They married in April 1955 and raised their daughters between Cloverdale and Victoria, B.C. For over 60 years, Margaret volunteered for a variety of community services. These included working with cerebral palsy children in North Surrey, several PTA committees, and the CNIB for which she was acknowledged by Her Majesty, Queen Elizabeth II. She was also heavily involved in the United Church and Job’s Daughters Bethel #2. The family would like to recognize the staff on A2 of Broadmead Lodge where Mom resided for the past 4 years. At Margaret’s request there will be a private family gathering.

In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Alzheimer Society of BC.

    Gramma will be missed, often beating me at cards and sitting in the sun enjoying a smoothie or a beer.
    We have so many fantastic memories of family vacations to Calgary, Yellowstone and camping plus all the McWakorn family gatherings with many generations. Forever our GG.
