Dean passed away suddenly and unexpectedly on December 16, 2025, at the Victoria General Hospital. Born in Dawson Creek, British Columbia, Dean is predeceased by her beloved husband Keith and will be remembered by her sons Geoffrey (Denise) and Christopher, brothers Rick (Marianne) and Bob (Penny), and grandchildren Ethan, Ava, Joel, and Miles.

Understated, but always fun, Dean was dedicated to family and a wonderful, caring friend. A more selfless person you will never meet. The family would like to express their deepest gratitude to Dean’s close friends for their support and kindness throughout her brief illness, and to thank the incredible team at the Victoria General Hospital Intensive Care Unit for their incredible expertise, caring, and compassion.

I’m was sorry to hear of Dean’s passing. I am a health care practitioner and cared for both Keith and Dean. When Dean came in for treatment, she seemed genuinely interested in my health and well being, and sometimes I wondered who was actually treating who. She spoke so fondly of her children and grandchildren. She was a special woman and she will be missed. My condolences to the family.

Christine and I were saddened to hear of Dean’s sudden death. We have wonderful memories of hanging out with her and Keith, especially as part of the rugby parents crowd!

We will miss them both and send our heartfelt condolences to Geoff and Chris and their family and friends.

As a longtime friend of Geoff, Dean always showed up the same way. Welcoming, loyal, caring and forgiving. She was so selfless and fun to spend time with. I will always be deeply grateful how she helped my family and I adjust to what initially felt like a very strange new city and school. May she rest in peace reunited with Keith. My deepest condolences to her family and many friends.

To Dean’s family and the whole Homer clan I send you my deepest condolences.

I too spent many happy times throughout my life, first with Keith, then with Keith and Dean, she was kind, funny, loving, and possessed an inner strength that stood her so well in later years.

Keith and Dean, both my heroes! It was hard indeed when Keith passed, and now Dean has gone to be with him. A love story for the ages.

Dean was readying herself for the next chapter in her life after losing her beloved partner, Keith, but only a few days after our weekly coffee, she embarked on a journey to join him. They are happily together again.

Dean was fun, compassionate and had a kind soul. These qualities made her a great parent to Geoff and Chris, always being there for them. Not surprisingly, she had lots of friends and enjoyed the time she spent with them doing whatever her spirit of adventure moved them to do.

We will all miss her calm nature, her positive outlook and her laughter. Condolences to Geoff, Chris and their families.

Dean’s passing was a shock to many, myself included. It brought back memories of that kind, gentle young woman I met. We shared friends, and laughter and later on, memories. Dean has a strong sense of humour and we would laugh a lot when we were together. I will miss that, and her soft voice, and engaging smile. My condolences go out to Chris, Geoff, and her many friends.

One day, a week prior to her death, there was a rap at the front door. When I opened it Dean stood there with a lovely array of flowers which she handed to me. I asked her in and woke my husband, Garth, from his afternoon rest. Dean said she wanted to visit us for a while. We sat and had a nice chat between the 3 of us until she felt it was time to leave. “We are family,” she stated. “Yes.” We agreed. We hugged each other and it was the last time we would see her. Such a shock and love to Geoff and Chris from us both.

After the recent passing of her husband Keith, Dean’s sudden and unexpected death came as a total shock. Together with her late husband, Dean was a lifelong friend with whom I had the pleasure of building many wonderful family memories. Always smiling, she was blessed with a beautiful unassuming nature behind which lived an engaging personality full of laughter and fun. I feel honoured to have built such memories with this truly special human being.

I was so saddened to learn of Dean’s sudden and unexpected passing.

Dean was the first friend I made 50 years ago when Graydon and I moved over to Victoria from Vancouver. We were there for each others life events, weddings, babies, funerals, and a whole lot in between.

Keith, Dean, Graydon and I made several eventful trips to Port Townsend, always in December.

Dean had a lovely quiet, unassuming nature. I will forever miss the kindness and generosity of this wonderful friend.

My thoughts are with Dean and Keith’s families at this time.

  • Elmarie, Kelvin and family

Our hearts are broken at this sad time and go out to you Geoff, Chris and your families and to all her beloved family and friends.
    She loved you so.

Dearest friend, quietly you came into our lives with your kind presence and celebrations, honouring friends and family. The Butchart Garden walks were arranged by you every year and we hold it dear … forever.

Quietly you also went, dearest friend, yet your kindness remains. It’s ripple effect touching many lives.

With much love and peace from Kelvin, Elmarie and family.

She will be profoundly missed, and I feel so fortunate to have known her. I will always cherish her kindness, and know she will always be remembered by the many, many people who loved her.
