Mary was born to George and Ida Lane on the family farm near Vidora, Saskatchewan.
She was the middle child of nine and often helped to care for her younger sisters and brother. Mary was an excellent student and went on to work for some time with the Bank of Montreal in Saskatchewan, and later in New Westminster, BC.
In 1949 she married Morris Heath. They spent more than 74 happy years together, until his passing in early 2024.
Mary was devoted to family, always staying in touch with her siblings. She greatly enjoyed many visits and special gatherings with her family and Morris’s throughout the years.
Mary loved to sew, creating many memorable outfits for herself and daughter Arien. She also gamely embraced camping, fishing, boating and exploring across Canada and the US. One accomplishment stood out – despite a great fear of water she learned to swim in mid-life.
Although faced with some serious health challenges, Mary lived to mark her 102nd birthday.
Mary is survived by her daughter Arien, brother Jim and sister-in-law Marty, many nieces and nephews and other extended family members.
