Jose (Joe) Eduardo Soares Pimentel passed away peacefully with his family by his side on January 1, 2026, at the age of 74.
Joe is survived by his loving wife of 49 years, Teresa; his daughter Suzanne (Jason); his sister-in-law Rita McCreadie (Bill); and many cherished cousins, nieces, and nephews.
Joe was born in the village of Ponta Garça on the island of São Miguel in the Azores. From the age of eight, he worked as a dairy farmer on his parents’ farm, learning the values of hard work, responsibility, and devotion to family—values that would guide him throughout his life. After completing his service in the army, Joe met the love of his life, Teresa. In 1976, he followed her to Victoria, where they married in October of that same year and began a life built on love, faith, and commitment.
Joe was deeply devoted to his family and his faith. He found joy in gardening and was a passionate follower of European football—the “real” football, as he liked to say. Every decision Joe made was intentional and centered on the well-being of his family. He lived by example, showing what it meant to lead with integrity, love, and quiet strength.
Joe will be remembered as a devoted husband, a loving father, and a steady, guiding presence to all who knew him. His legacy lives on in the family he loved so dearly.
A Visitation and Catholic Prayers will be held in The Sequoia Centre at McCall Gardens, 4665 Falaise Drive, Victoria, BC, on Thursday, January 8th, 2026, at 4:00pm.
A Funeral Mass will take will be held at Our Lady of Fatima Catholic Church on Friday, January 9th, 2026, at 10:00am followed by his entombment in the Mausoleum at Royal Oak Burial Park.
Condolences may be offered to the family below.

Bill McCreadie Good Morning,
My name is Bill McCreadie and Joe Pimentel was my brother in law. More importantly, he was my friend. We knew we could depend upon each other in times of duress. I admired Joe’s self discipline, it seemed he could conquer difficulties with no help.
Joe was a good family man. He always worked and provided his family with a comfortable living. He enjoyed his garden and myself and my staff enjoyed the fruits of his labour when the garden vegetables were ready.
Joe was also a builder he worked on the Victoria General Hospital and the Hotel Grand Pacific. Some may say that he didn’t build these buildings he was only a cement finisher. To them I would remind them of the proverb about the lack of a horseshoe nail and how a kingdom was lost. No contribution, no matter how inconsequential it seems, is unimportant. Whenever I see these buildings I will remember Joe.
Joe was also a football fan and he supported Benfica. Don’t worry Joe, I will pick up the torch and support your beloved Benfica.
Thank-you,
Bill McCreadie
