Ruby Laura Baker (nee Raugust) passed away peacefully with family by her side on January 1st, 2026, at The Summit in Quadra Village in Victoria, BC. Ruby was beloved by her partner, Paul Love, for 20 years, and until recently, Paul and Ruby lived in Oak Bay, BC. Ruby was the proud mother of three children: Lauriston (Arlene), Wanda (Darren), and Carla (Douglas). Grandmother of six and great-grandmother of seven.
Celebrating the life of an extraordinary woman, our mom, is not difficult. She lived a full life, and though our hearts are heavy with loss, they are also full of gratitude for the gift of her presence in our lives.
Our mom was a force of love, kindness, and resilience. She taught all of us the meaning of compassion, patience, and the importance of family. Her faith was silently strong, and she gave of her time freely to the church in every way possible.
For the many that had the pleasure of spending time in her beautiful home, we were surrounded by great smells, a bounty of wonderful food, always music, and a welcoming spirit.
Her life was a testament to grace. She faced hardships with courage and embraced happiness with a full heart. The lessons she passed on—whether about love, perseverance, or endless recipes—will stay with us forever.
Mom, you were our heart. Thank you for a lifetime of love. We will miss you dearly, but we know your light will continue to guide us.
Condolences may be offered to the family below.

Darlene Fach When Ken and I lived in Sherwood Park and our children in Calgary we made many late night trips to visit them. By around Red Deer if we got tired we always knew Ruby had a room available for overnight and we were welcome. Many New Years Eve’s were spent going for Chinese Food then back to a cozy fire and late night movies.
It was a delight when our son, Darren married Wanda since we were already friends with the Bakers. And then in sharing in our lives together we garnered so many great memories.
Rest in Peace my friend. You brought a lot of joy to many of us.

Keith E Pedersen I have many happy memories of the Baker family and house, enjoying time with Ruby’s children and around her table. I was also grateful for her musical talents in music ministry in Red Deer for many years. In my visits with her and Paul over the past several summers, her kind and inquisitive spirit always shone through. My condolences to the Baker family; Ruby will be missed.
