With deep sadness, we share the passing of Jan Dyer on Saturday, January 24, 2026, surrounded by her loving family.

Born in Peterborough, Ontario, to Norman Edwin Elliott and Audrey Clara Trimble Elliott, Jan married Dr. Arthur Douglas Dyer of Sarnia in 1969, and together they made their home in Victoria.

She was the devoted mother of Douglas Elliott (Veronica) Dyer, David Corey (Melanie) Dyer, and Sandra Ramezani, and the beloved grandmother of Amy, Ariel, Graham, James, Marlayna, and Neda. She is also remembered by her brother, David Elliott, and predeceased by her brother, James Elliott.

Jan dedicated her career to public health nursing with the Victorian Order of Nurses in Toronto and later continuing her work in the Yukon. In Victoria, she was deeply involved in textile arts for many years.

Jan and Doug divided their time between Victoria and Salt Spring Island, where they enjoyed kayaking, canoeing, sailing, and cycling along the Galloping Goose Trail.

She will be deeply missed by her extended family and many friends.

Hi Doug so sorry about the passing of Jan. I remember when I first moved to Victoria you and Jan hosted my mother and me in your home. That was in 1974. I just learned of Jan’s passing tonight from Irene. Please accept my condolences.
May God bless you and your family
    Jeanne
