Norma Anne Goodwin, a life very well lived, and a woman immensely loved.
Mom passed on Saturday, February 21st, 2026. Exactly three weeks, and one day following her 96th birthday.
Mom was predeceased by her loving husband Brian, in 1988.
Born the only, and much-loved child of Anne, and Hugh Duffield, at Victoria’s St. Joseph’s Hospital; seventeen minutes after midnight, on Thursday, January 30th, 1930.
Mom is survived by her loving daughter Christine. Her son David; grandsons Cameron, and Jason Goodwin, and their mother Kimberley Goodwin.
Growing up in the Gorge area, Mom attended Craigflower, and Tillicum Elementary Schools, and Mt. View High School.
After Dad passed, Mom travelled; took up golf and continued her passion for playing 8-ball (she was a shark). She especially treasured the years she spent playing pool with the ladies of the “Dockers Angels”.
Mom was actively involved with the Ladies Auxiliary of the Royal Canadian Legion starting in the 1950’s and was extremely proud of her service.
A stay-at-home mom, Mom worked hard and always put everyone’s needs before her own.
She was utterly selfless.
Throughout a gruelling battle with vascular dementia, Mom never lost her sense of humour; a quality that was an essential component of who she was, and there is comfort in that fact.
I would like to thank Sharon, her housekeeper, but more importantly her friend, during Mom’s fourteen years spent at The Renaissance.
I would especially like to thank Jamie, her extraordinary care aide, throughout Mom’s final years at The Summit.
I can’t express how fortunate we were to have Jamie with us from day one, up to, and including Mom’s final day on this earth.
Truly a blessing.
Be at peace Mom, you have more than earned your wings, fly free, and soar high.
No service as requested.
Donations if so desired, please to either the Alzheimer Society of Canada, or the Canadian Cancer Society.
Condolences may be offered to the family below.

Shirley Waldon My condolences to Norma’s family. I got to know Norma when she lived down the hall from me at the Southport condo complex. I always enjoyed spending time with your mom. She had such a delightful sense of humor and wasn’t afraid to express what was on her mind. She will be sadly missed by all who knew her.

JoAnne Angus Norma was certainly one of a kind. I have been lucky enough to be friends with Christine for over 60 years which in turn included Norma in my life for 60 also. She was one of my cheerleaders in life & I sure hope that she knew how much that meant and still means to me this day. Her impact on so many people has stood the test of time with me still cheering people on as I was taught so well by her. Norma thank you for being one of my neighbourhood Moms growing up and a friend in adulthood. I will love you forever, “Angus” xoxoxoxo

Dear Christine and Family…
I always think of Norma when I walk past the Rennasance where I was so blessed to be her health care worker when I worked in Assisted Living. I was so very fond of her. She was so lovely, easy to talk to, lovable, kind, caring and intelligent and very independant. I have always kept her dear in my heart.
I missed her so much when she left the Rennasance.
I love you Norma. You are special.
Thank you Christine for all your love and care you gave your Mom. She loved you so very much.
I loved talking to Norma about cats.
We always looked forward to turning over the calendar to see which cat would be on the cover of the following month.
Sending you my deepest condolences
🙂
