Barry passed away after a long battle with dementia.

Barry will be immensely missed by his partner of 59 years Udo Wendland, and sister Shirley Atkins and her extended family in Winnipeg, and all the friends and people who knew him.
His wish was no formal service. A gathering of friends will take place at a future date.

The biggest thank you to all are the caregivers at “Sunset Lodge (2nd floor)”. For the care and kindness, you gave Barry I will be forever grateful.

Donations to the Salvation Army’s “Sunset Lodge” would be greatly appreciated.

Our hearts and thoughts are with you, Udo. You and Barry are two beautiful souls who walked an inspiring path together, and those of us who are lucky to know you both have received the gift of your friendship and love. It’s the depth of that love, though, that reflects the grief and sadness felt when when someone so close takes the step on life’s journey where we can’t follow.

Udo, we wish you comfort, courage, strength and peace as you remember Barry and take the next steps on your path. Thank you both for sharing your time and friendship with us. We will be holding you in our hearts now and always.

With much love and many hugs, Murray and Michael

We first met Barry and Udo some 25 year ago in Cabos Mexico. We shared music the sun and great meals together. We had a great group that respected and enjoyed each other’s company. Barry will be missed. Udo, we hope it helps for you to know we’re sharing in your sorrow and wishing you the strength you need to face each new tomorrow.

I met Barry about 45 years ago when I started working at Eatons. When I think of him, I use the word GENTLEMAN. He was kind and always friendly to me. My husband also worked at Eatons and remembers him in the same way. While it has been many years since we last saw Barry, we often remember him when we reminisce about our Eaton’s Days. Our condolences to Udo and Barry’s extended family.

    Regards,

    Susan and Donald McMullen
