It is with broken hearts and profound love that we are announcing the death of our beloved mother Lois Abbott. Lois was born in New Westminster in 1935 and grew up there, the only child of Pearl and Frank Biron. Her father passed away when she was 8 and she had always wished she had had siblings. Thus, she was thrilled when at 17 years of age, her mother who had remarried, gave birth to her sister, Patricia. She attended Trapp Tech Highschool and upon graduation worked at a mill as a bookkeeper. She met the love of her life, Richard Abbott at the age of 21 and after 3 months of dating, they were married. They remained happily married for 64 years until Richard’s passing in Dec. of 2020. They were the proud parents of Steven and Lori and raised their family in Coquitlam. They later became the proud grandparents of Steven, Landon, Michael and Kristen. Lois and Richard both remained very active participants in the lives of their children and grandchildren until their deaths. Lois’s family was her greatest joy.
Lois had a pure and beautiful spirit. She was not materialistic at all, nor did she envy anyone of anything. She was a very happy person. She radiated kindness and captured people’s hearts with her beautiful smile. She was very easy going, lighthearted and had a wonderful sense of humor, able to see the funny side of things always. In her early years, she loved to garden and be out in the sun and she was very artistic. She enjoyed comedies and participated in a bowling league. She loved going out to eat and always saw mealtime as a very social time. Her favorite thing though was spending time with her family. She was a stay-at-home mom and was the kind of mother every child wishes they had. She was always a soft place to fall and would listen to anything her children had to say without judgement. She would spend hours just talking with her family at the kitchen table, no topic off limits. A large part of her life was spent taking her kids to figure skating lessons, hockey practices and games and softball practices and games. Lois and Richard relocated to Victoria in 2019 to be closer to family and Lois peacefully passed away at Glengarry Hospital on April 10, 2026. Her daughter was with her. Lois leaves behind her son Steven (Je), daughter Lori (John), grandchildren Steven, Landon, Michael and Kristen, sister Patricia (Wayne) and many nieces and nephews. We would like to express our deep and sincere thanks to Dr. Prinsloo and all the nurses and care aides at Glengarry Hospital for the genuine, loving care they gave our mother the last few years she was there and particularly to RN’s Sasha, Deanna and Kurt. The other staff members that worked in various occupations at Glengarry were also incredibly kind to our mother and we thank them as well. We would also like to thank Father Sean Flynn for coming to Glengarry to say prayers for her the night before she passed. We take great comfort knowing our mother is now reunited with Christ, our father Richard, her mother and her dad who she has waited a very long time to see again.

Lois and Dick, along with Steven and Lori, were our wonderful next door neighbours on Dansey Ave, in Coquitlam for many years. We enjoyed watching Steven and Lori grow up and over the years we shared many wonderful conversations. Best next door neighbours one could ask for. sCondolences to the family. Both Lois and Dick exemplified the values around strong family life.
