Mom was born on December 1, 1944, in Rurka Kalan, Punjab, India, and passed away peacefully on May 1, 2026 at the Royal Jubilee Hospital. She was predeceased by her beloved husband, Gurnam Singh Basi, in January 1976. She is survived by her loving sons, Udhe (Inderjit) and Bhinder (Ravinder); her cherished grandchildren, Athina, Ryan, Brayden, and Jordan; and her siblings, Balbir Singh (Ranjit), Kashmir Singh (Palo), Jasvir Kaur (Shigara) Kashmiro Kaur (Jasbir), Surjeet Kaur (Bachittar), Jarnail Singh (Kuljit), and Nirmal Kaur (Parmjit), as well as several nieces and nephews and their families.
Mom was the embodiment of strength, hard work, and sacrifice. Widowed at the young age of 31, with two children aged 9 and 4, she devoted herself to building a stable and loving life for her family. She found a second family at the Olde England Inn in Esquimalt, where she served as Head of Housekeeping for 25 years before retiring in 2001.
She took immense pride in being a grandmother and deeply loved her four grandchildren, cherishing every moment with them and doting on them whenever she could.
Mom’s passing has left an immeasurable void in our lives.
We love you, Mom, and we will always miss you.
