In Loving Memory
It is with profound sadness that we announce the passing of Larnold Henry Cherneske, who passed away peacefully at home in Victoria, British Columbia, on June 21, 2026, at the age of 74.
Born on April 29, 1952, in Preeceville, Saskatchewan, Larnold lived a life filled with laughter, hard work, adventure, and above all, love for his family. He was predeceased by his father, Jerry Cherneske; his mother, Pearl Cherneske; his baby brother Benny; and his sister, Wanda. While they have been greatly missed over the years, there is comfort in knowing they are reunited once again.
Larnold was a devoted husband to Martha, with whom he shared 53 years of marriage. Together they built a life rooted in love, dedication, and countless cherished memories. In recent years, he especially treasured their time together, enjoying adventures; such as camping, family functions, and the simple pleasures of life together.
He was a proud father to his daughters, Christine and Jennifer, and a loving father-in-law to their spouses. He was also a devoted grandfather to Jesse, Darien, and Angelica. His family was his greatest source of pride and joy, and nothing meant more to him than time spent together.
Throughout his life, Larnold built a diverse and respected career. He worked for many years at the Royal Oak Inn before moving into the construction industry. He later dedicated his remaining working years to CUBE Global Storage, where he worked as Operations Manager until his retirement. No matter the role, he approached his work with determination, pride, and a readiness to lend a hand.
Outside of work, Larnold enjoyed a wide range of hobbies and creative pursuits. He found satisfaction in stained glass artistry, welding projects, playing old-timers hockey, and spending time outdoors feeding and watching the birds in his backyard. He shared a special bond with the many animals that were part of his life over the years. Among them, Romeo, Juliette, and Molly held a particularly special place in his heart, and his loyal companion Max brought him great comfort and joy in his later years.
To know Larnold was to know laughter. His larger-than-life personality naturally drew people in. His infectious laugh, warm smile, and genuine desire to make others happy made him the heart of every gathering. Whether among family, friends, coworkers, or strangers, he had a remarkable gift for making everyone feel welcome, forming friendships that often lasted a lifetime.
Larnold carried with him countless cherished memories: growing up alongside his brothers and sisters: Brian, Lori, Garry, Patti, Gwen, Lynn, Dean, Maureen, and Pam, and their spouses; the adventures and mischief they shared; building a home and life with Martha; the years spent in Edmonton and Youbou; family gatherings; his love for the holidays especially Halloween and Christmas, camping trips; and time spent at the lake creating lasting memories with those he loved. He also held a deep affection for his many nieces and nephews, each of whom he adored and took great joy in watching grow and thrive.
Though his passing leaves an immeasurable void, Larnold’s legacy lives on in the hearts of all who knew him. He will be remembered for his kindness, generosity, unwavering love for family, unforgettable sense of humor, and his ability to bring joy wherever he went.
A closed casket service will be held in the Sequoia Centre at McCall Gardens, 4665 Falaise Drive, Victoria, BC V8Y 1B4, on June 29th, 2026, between 2:00 p.m. and 4:00 p.m.
A reception will follow the next day, June 30th, 2026, at the Langford Legion, 761 Station Avenue, Victoria, BC V9B 4V2, from 1:00 p.m. to 3:00 p.m.
Larnold leaves behind a legacy of laughter, friendship, and love that will continue to live on in all who knew him.
He will be deeply missed, forever remembered, and always loved.
