Laura was born on December 18, 1925, passed away on July 4, 2026.
She was predeceased by her husband of 50 years, Ernest (1998); sons William (2020) and Ronald (2021); son-in-law Don Byers (2019).
Loved and dearly missed by daughters Ruby Tateham (Denis), Louise (Norm) Clark, Lillian (Doug) Gillespie, Dolores Byers, Gail Cinnamon (Kevin). Adored by grandchildren Chris, Vince, Steve, Darren, Brad, Tyler, Kristina, Jenny, John, Dustin, Melissa, Brenton, Chris, Nick and their families.
Laura was raised in Deer Lake Nfld. She was the second eldest in a blended family of 15 children. After the war Laura and Ernest were married and headed west. They raised a family of seven children in Victoria.
Laura enjoyed baking and mastered bread making at a very young age. You were always welcome to drop in for a cup of tea and a home baked newfy bun. She also loved knitting, crocheting and sewing. Every grandchild had a beautifully knitted baby outfit. Laura donated numerous handmade items to the craft fairs at St. Lukes Church where she attended for nearly 50 years.
There were many great memories made last December as she celebrated her “100th Birthday” with family and friends.
Her daughters are very proud of how they worked together to support her needs, enabling Mom to live in her home to the end.

A Celebration of Life will be held at St. Lukes Church/Cedar Hill on Thursday, July 30, 2026 at 1:00 pm.

We were neighbours on Dawnview. We were never close, she was busy taking care of your family,while Bruce and I were busy working. Our best memory was after we left and your mom told us about the shows your new neighbour put on. She did have a good sense of humour!! My sweetheart Bruce has gone too so maybe they will be sharing laughs up there about the joys of Dawnview. I just read a lovely bit from ‘The Bards of Ireland’. I came into the Stoyles family in in 1994 when our daughter Tracey married Laura’s grandson Vince. Laura always had such a welcoming presence & made you feel special & that she was happy to see you. We have attended many family celebrations over the years. Great job by the dedicated daughters who enabled her to live at home in her last years. I am one of the lucky recipients of knitted slippers..warm & cozy just like Laura
Sincere sympathy for the loss of Aunt Laura. I very much enjoyed meeting her at my wedding to her nephew Arch more than fifty years go and she always stayed in touch with us over the years, including her visits to her much loved home province of Newfoundland. RIP Aunt Laura after a long life well lived.
