Sigrid Lauk, 85, of Victoria, B.C., formerly of Tsawwassen, B.C., passed away on August 8, 2026. Sigrid is survived by her two sons Philipp (Lisanne) and Martin (Tracy), grandchildren, her brother Ludwig, niece Ingrid, and many more nieces and nephews.
Sigrid was born in Hockenheim Germany in 1941. She moved to Canada in 1967 and she settled down in Hamilton, Ontario, where she started an accounting job at Denninger’s. This would become her most cherished job, and she always referred to her coworkers as more like family. There she met and married Gerhard Lauk and had two boys- Philipp and Martin. From there, the family moved to Tsawwassen, B.C., where Sigrid resided until she moved to Victoria to be closer to her adult sons.
Sigrid was an accomplished tennis player, and in her younger years, she played tennis often. Her favourite female tennis star was Steffi Graf. Sigrid even wrote a fan letter to Steffi! She enjoyed reading German books and articles, and cooking, often cooking German meals. Sigrid was feisty till the end- always speaking her mind and telling stories from the past. She knew her favourite meal (fish), her favourite dessert (vanilla ice cream), and her favourite two people in the world- her sons. Sigrid will be greatly missed by her family. “Mothers hold their children’s hands for awhile, but their hearts forever.”
Tributes, if wished, can be made to the Alzheimer Society of Canada.
