At McCall Gardens, we understand that grief is deeply personal. If you or someone you know would benefit from additional support, Janette can connect you with trusted bereavement counselors and local grief-support groups across Greater Victoria.

FAQ’s

Below are some common questions that previous families have asked regarding Aftercare:

You can expect to be contacted by Janette within a few days following the services provided. Our directors will have discussed this detail with you during the initial arrangements. Janette will make an appointment with you and provide guidance on what you should bring to the meeting. If you have any questions prior to your meeting please do not hesitate to call her at (250) 385-4465.

No. Our aftercare program is provided to the families we serve at no additional cost. It is part of our commitment to supporting families not only through the funeral arrangements, but also with the important responsibilities that follow.

Yes. If coming to McCall Gardens is difficult or you would feel more comfortable meeting at home, Janette can arrange a home visit.

In most circumstances, the death certificate and any requested notarized copies are available within a few days following the death, although timing can vary depending on the circumstances. If they have not already been provided,  Janette will provide them during your aftercare appointment.

No. Although Janette is well versed and experienced in helping families deal with estate issues, she is not a lawyer and does not provide legal advice. As we like to say, “Janette will point you in the right direction”. When legal assistance is appropriate, she can recommend that you speak with a lawyer who practices in wills and estates.

Every family's circumstances are different. Most appointments take between 20 minutes and one hour, depending on the complexity of the estate and the amount of assistance or information required.

The executor or person responsible for managing the deceased's affairs will usually benefit most from the appointment. Other family members or individuals assisting with the estate are also welcome to attend when appropriate.

We know that the loss of a loved one can be overwhelming and understand that the last thing on people's minds is paperwork that needs to get done. We want you to know that we are here to help, both before and after the services provided.
