Pat passed away peacefully at home, exactly where he wanted to be, surrounded by the family who loved him dearly.
Pat was a truly genuine and kind human being. In a world that often feels rushed, he always took the time to connect with people and genuinely wanted to hear about their lives. With his quiet presence, he had a special way of making everyone feel heard and valued.
Pat was also a man who knew how to enjoy the simple pleasures of life, whether he was out hunting, fishing or simply sharing stories around the campfire, Pat was happiest when he was in the outdoors.
Pat was a highly respected flooring business owner who built a strong reputation over more than 40 years through his integrity and dedication. His sister Lana was an integral partner in the business, sharing in the hard work and success they built together.
And then, of course, there was his beloved wife, Kathy, 57 years of shared mornings, quiet cups of coffee enjoying the beautiful farm that they had built together. Pat loved Kathy with all his heart, but when it came to crib, his competitive spirit always shone through.
Pat raised his son Brett (Donna) and daughter Katie by example, teaching them to navigate the world with integrity and compassion. He took immense pride in watching Brett raise his family and Katie build her own business. There was a special place in his heart for his granddaughters, Rosie & Allie. They brought a unique joy and light to his life, and seeing them always brought the biggest smile to his face. As well as his nephew Cody, with whom he had a close relationship.
Pat was raised on a farm on Helmcken Road along his nine siblings. He was predeceased by his parents Des & Gladys, sisters Rosaleen & Colleen, and his brother Mike (Moira). He leaves behind his siblings Kathleen (Hank), Kevin, Lana, Maureen, Noreen, and Dan (Sue).
Pat felt the love of so many friends, especially over the last year. It was a true testament to the special place he held in the hearts of everyone who knew him.
A special thank you to VIHA nurses Karen & Stacy, whose compassionate care and kindness made Pat’s journey so much easier for him and his family.
Pat showed us what is meant to be a dedicated husband, proud father, grandfather, a loyal brother, uncle and friend. Though our hearts are heavy today, we are deeply fortunate to have shared in his life. The next time you’re out on the water, sitting with good friends or raising a glass of whiskey to toast a life well lived, please think of him. Thank you, Pat, for your kindness. Thank you for your love. Rest in peace. In a world that gauges in 1 through 10, you are a “Proper 12”.
