Beverlee Joan Hamilton

July 29, 1935 – October 24, 2026

July 29, 1935 – October 24, 2026

With profound sadness, we announce that our dear mom, grandmother, and great-grandmother, Beverlee Joan Hamilton passed away on October 24, 2026. She was predeceased by her beloved husband, Arnold in 2007. She is survived by her children, Susan (Chris), Wendy (Gary) and Todd, grandchildren, D’arcy (Lindsay), Devon and Olivia, great-grandchildren, Jamie and Trace, sisters, Bonnie and Patti, nephews, Scott and Brad and nieces, Heather and Shannon.

Born in Ottawa to William and Evelyn Munton, and their first born, Beverlee enjoyed a happy childhood and at the age of fifteen, moved from Ottawa to Victoria with her family. She had fond memories of the train journey across Canada with her parents and younger sister, Bonnie. Shortly after moving to Victoria, she met Arnold and they were married in 1953, settling in Brentwood Bay.

In 1962, construction on their new mid-century style home in Brentwood Bay was completed. Beverlee and Arnold raised their family in this home, and she resided there until 2022, when she could no longer live independently.

While raising her family, Beverlee’s focus was always on her husband and children and, as the years went on, also on her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She was a loving, devoted, organized, and protective mother, tirelessly attending her children’s school events and sports activities. When her children were younger, she organized weekly Saturday family excursions to “town” to shop, always going to either the Continental or Golden Sheaf Bakeries and at Christmas, she made sure the family had a thorough tour of the areas in Victoria lit up for Christmas. She worked in a number of jobs, in the earlier years part time for Brentwood Waterworks and Seaboard Insurance and later, full time for School District # 63. She had a lifelong love of reading, always having a novel, biography or autobiography on the go. Beverlee had an enduring interest in fashion, enjoying clothes shopping, wearing her outfits, and observing what other people were wearing. In later years, she enjoyed her small vegetable garden. She loved family gatherings and had a joyful, infectious laugh. One of her greatest pleasures, in the years after Arnold’s retirement, was spending time with him. His death in 2007 left a void in her life from which she never really recovered.

The family would like to thank Dr. Harley Syyong and the exceptional nurses and caregivers at Sidney All Care Residence who treated Mom with kindness and compassion in her final years.

A private family gathering to celebrate Beverlee’s life has taken place at McCall Gardens.

We will miss you, Mom and Nana!
