Alexander Tait (Alex) passed away peacefully at his home from the effects of ALS, which he managed with grace and his trademark sense of humor. He will be deeply missed by his beloved wife of 40 years, Anita Tait; and his three daughters, Ann-Margaret (Edward), Janice (John), and Anita (Jared). He will also be sadly missed by his grandchildren Jessica, Jocelyn, Jamie, Alexander, Grace and Rachel; his brother, George Noble; and countless extended family and friends. Born in St. Combs, Aberdeenshire, Scotland, he worked as a fisherman and a mechanic. He moved to Canada to pursue his wife Anita. He later became a realtor and then a prominent entrepreneur. Although his work was very important to him, he truly will be remembered for his love of the water, boats, fishing and walking along beaches. He enjoyed traveling to many places in the world, especially to his homes on Saltspring Island and St. Combs, Scotland. He was known for his affectionate nature and the twinkle in his beautiful blue eyes. He was dearly loved and will be desperately missed by all whose lives he touched.
A funeral service to celebrate his life will be held at McCALL BROS. FLORAL CHAPEL, Johnson and Vancouver Streets, Victoria, on Wednesday, March 11, 2009 at 2:30 pm. A reception to follow at McCall Bros. Family Centre.

Judy Larimore Anita, Jared, Rachel, and family, I enjoyed the talk I had with your dad at Rachel’s first birthday last year. His face was smiling as he watched his grandchilren play and talked about them. I know you will miss him. Only time will heal your loss. Laura McGregor and Family We will all remember Alex with fond memories, especially his charming ways and sense of humour. He was always willing to lend a hand or listen to you no matter who you were. One can’t forget his love of Salt Spring and his grand wood fire that we sat around and shared much laughter on many an occasion.
