Marion passed away on Tuesday, September 15, 2009 after a short but valiant battle with pancreatic cancer. She was born in Edinburgh, Scotland on March 7, 1934. She is survived by her devoted husband of 48 years, Don; sons, Andrew (Abigail) and Bruce (Carol); adoring granddaughters, Grace and Eve; brother, Frank Cowan in Holland; sister, Mae Stewart in Edinburgh and lifelong friend Shiela Dunlop. She will also be deeply missed by a special group of friends who made Marion their “Scottish Queen”.
Friends are invited to visit with the family from 6:30 to 8:30 pm on Thursday, September 17th at McCall Bros. Funeral Home, Johnson & Vancouver Streets. At Marion’s request, a private family service will take place Friday morning followed by cremation. A Celebration of Marion’s Life will take place at a later date.
Marion’s family want to express their deep gratitude to Dr. David Meir, the staff and volunteers at Victoria Hospice and the Home Care Nursing Staff at Esquimalt/West Shore for their kind, compassionate care of Marion during her illness. In lieu of flowers, donations to Canadian Cancer Research or Victoria Hospice Society would be appreciated.

Pat Thomas Dear Don and family,
I was so sorry to hear of your great loss.
I only knew Marion as a Bridge partner but enjoyed her wicked sense of humour and her mischievous personality ( She was also a very shrewd player.}. We shall miss her so much at the Oak Bay Bowling Club Duplicate Bridge sessions.
I hope that time will gradually heal your pain and that you’re left with wonderful memories of this beautiful woman. Maybe next year Don you will join us on the bowling green;
