Our treasured aunt Louise passed away peacefully September 1, 2007 at Hart House with loving nieces Maureen and Patsy at her side. She was born July 21, 1913 in Dauphin, MB the youngest child of William Albert Brinkman and Marjorie Ann McPherson. A graduate of Dauphin General Hospital she remained proud of the training she received and had a long and varied career in nursing. The highlight of her career were the years spent serving the children of Queen Alexandra Solarium at Mill Bay, B.C. Here she met her future husband John Holdstock. Louise loved her family, her home and gardens, her beloved Portage Inlet and especially she loved children. Everyone she met became a friend and she welcomed everyone to her home for “tea and a biscuit’ at any time.

She was predeceased by her loving husband John in 2000, 5 sisters and 1 brother. She is survived by many nieces, nephews, extended family and friends across Canada, the US and UK. Louise was a much loved aunt and will be sadly missed by all who knew her. Special thanks are given to the wonderful staff at Hart House who provided her with such loving care and attention these past 14 months.

Cremation has taken place and Louise requested there be no service. In lieu of flowers, if so wished donations may be made to: Greater Victoria Hospital Foundation or Dauphin General Hospital, Special Equipment Fund, Dauphin, MB.

A favourite poem: “A Bag of Tools” – Isn’t it strange that princes and kings and clowns who caper in sawdust rings, and common folk like you and me are builders of Eternity? To each is given a bag of tools, An hourglass and a book of rules, and each must build ere his time has flown, A stumbling block or a stepping stone.

Goodbye Auntie Weese, you were the best!
