Sheila Frances Macfarlane (nee Strachan)

Sheila passed away May 2, 2011. Sheila is survived by her beloved husband of 65 years, (Alan); her children, Doug (Penny) Macfarlane, Linda Murphy, Kerry (Jeremy) Macfarlane Bell; six grandchildren; six great-grandchildren and by her special niece, Patricia Doheny. Sheila was predeceased by her father and mother, Frank and Nan Strachan and by her sister, Dorothy and her husband, Frank Doheny. She loved her family and they loved her. As illness overtook her, she wrote a note saying that she had enjoyed a wonderful life and was so proud of all her family. She never lost her positive attitude and happy smile. Sheila was an active and accomplished person with many good friends. She was a student leader, an athlete, and very involved in the community. Above all, she was a loving mother and a supportive wife. Grateful thanks to caregiver, Donna Lowres and to the staff of Acacia Ty Mawr Manor at Shawnigan Lake.

  1. I will always remember Sheila’s gorgeous smile. I want to send the video my teaching partner and I took of her at Acacia when we visited with our class last year. I will try to attach it here but if that won’t work could someone send me their e-mail address and I will send it along to you. I hope we can get together over the summer with Debbie and David who also asked me to send on their sympathies.

  2. Our deepest sympathy Alan to you and all your family. Our thoughts are with you all. M & D

  3. Al: Our sincere condolences on the passing of Sheila.
Have not seen you for awhile, but retain family links through Shawnigan Lake. Warm regards.
