Beverley was born on Valentine’s Day 1925 in Victoria and passed away surrounded by her family at Mount St. Mary’s on November 30th 2011. A true Victoria girl, Beverley was schooled at Poplars Dayschool for Girls, Sir James Douglas Elementary, Victoria High and then attended Victoria College at Craigdarroch Castle. Beverley met her dear Gordie in 1945 on a blind date, and they were later married on September 8th 1947, in Victoria at the Metropolitan United Church. Beverley continued her post secondary education in Vancouver receiving her Bachelor of Social Work degree from UBC one month before delivering her first daughter, Penny. The family grew as they pursued an adventurous and rewarding career serving in the Canadian Air Force. During their travels abroad the family developed many cherished friendships before returning to their home in Victoria. There, Beverley was hired as the first social worker at the Gorge Road Rehabilitation Hospital where she demonstrated a great empathy for those she helped. Bev retired in 1985 and continued her love for travel which often involved following her children and their families to various corners of the world. Beverley’s family was clearly her greatest love and she is survived by her children Pat (David), Mike (Sherrill) and Jeff (Jeannette) and grandchildren Matthew (Amy), Benjamin, Thomas, Sarah, Patrick, Megan, Robin, Madeline and great granddaughter Freya.

Tamar Griggs I am grateful to have been woven into the fabric of Bev’s life for nearly 40 years. She exemplified what is best in the human spirit: love, compassion, generosity, kindness, acceptance, joy (she always loved a party!). Bev and Gordy both nurtured and created the most wonderful family I know, whose values of support and kindness pass on through the generations. Way to go, Bev and Gordy! Both of you are a pillar of goodness and hope in my life. I will miss Bev as I envision her dancing with the moon and stars overhead – and flowing in my soul. I love you all!

Sandy and Maarten Prinsze We are sorry to hear of your loss, and send our condolences. We met Bev a few times at the Clinton-Baker family home and the yacht club, she was always friendly with a beautiful smile.
