1920 – 2012
Annie Isobel Jacobson (nee Chugg) passed away peacefully on March 24th, 2012 with her family around her. Annie was born in Fort McLeod, Alberta, in 1920. Predeceased by her husband, Didrick (Dick) Jacobson in 2005; her parents, Mary and Edgar Chugg; her two brothers, Elmer and Allan and her two sisters, Ruby Toews and Laura Magill. Annie is lovingly remembered by her daughter and granddaughter, Kathleen Jacobson and Gabrielle Jacobson; her son and daughter-in-law, Carl Jacobson and Irene Hwang; her sisters, Luella Hillmer and Evelyn Chugg; her brother, Norman Chugg; and her friend and companion, Wendy Beck, as well as a large and loving extended family. Annie grew up on a farm near Grande Prairie, Alberta, with 7 brothers and sisters. During the war years, she supervised a one room school with 20 students, Grades 1 – 9. Her career was in bookkeeping and she worked both in Grande Prairie and 3 years for the Hudson Bay Co. in Victoria. It was in Victoria, she met a handsome soldier, Dick, whom she married in 1957 after he returned from post war service in Germany. They raised their 2 children mainly in the Okanagan Region of B.C. Dick and Annie were active in their church communities, most recently in Elk Lake Baptist in Victoria. Annie’s greatest joy was to spend time with her immediate and her extended family and her friends. The family offers a special thank you to the caring and dedicated staff at Marrion Village (Baptist Housing Society of BC) and at the Gorge Road Hospital and to Dr. Anthony Nielsen.
A Service of Remembrance for Annie will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday, March 31 at Elk Lake Baptist Church, 5349 Patricia Bay Highway, Saanich with Rev. Les Biggs and Rev. Ken Hillmer officiating. In lieu of flowers or other gifts, contributions may be made to: The Baptist Housing Society of BC, c/o Administrator, Marrion Village & Elgin Gardens, 1968 Bee St., Victoria, BC, V8R 6P6 or to Canadian Baptist Ministries, c/o Elk Lake Baptist Church, 5349 Patricia Bay Highway, Saanich, BC, V8Y 1S9, or to the charity of your choice.
