Alexander Peter Walls died Friday, July 19, 2013 in Victoria BC, at home with his family a year after being diagnosed with a glioblastoma brain tumour. Predeceased by his parents Webster and Florence; sister Bonnie; sister-in-law Lynne. He is survived by his wife Grace (Sieg); children Shayne, Samantha (Joe), Jeremy (Shannon); grandchildren Max, Ruby, Reese; brothers Robert (Jody), John (Bev), Gordon (Marilyn); sister Marilyn (Kevin); aunt Theresa; nieces and nephews Traci, Brenna, Noreen, Jonathan, Danielle, Scott, Sarah, Emma; sister-in-law Betty (Gerry); brother Gerry (Joy); nephews and nieces Victor, Stuart, Stacy, Lesley; grand nieces, nephews and cousins.

Alex was born in Ottawa, September 06, 1948, and raised in Winnipeg and Seven Sisters Falls Manitoba. He and Grace were married in Whitemouth, MB in 1968. Al was a police officer with the Winnipeg Police from 1969 – 1996, and worked for Security Services at the BC Legislature after moving to Victoria in 1998 until he became ill in 2012. He enjoyed working and the friends he made over the years. Alex liked riding his motorcycle, camping, fishing, reading, playing crib and walking his dogs Rascal and Buddy. Most of all he liked spending time with his family and friends here and back in Manitoba. Despite his prognosis he had a great year, spending time at Lake Cowichan, Christmas at Craidellona, French Beach, a road trip with his brothers to Alaska, and sunny days at home on the deck with the kids and grand kids.

We want to thank our families and friends for their visits, cards, e-mails and phone calls throughout his illness. Also thanks to his treatment team, Community Care, the Red Cross and Brian Winsby. Alex and I want to thank Shayne, Samantha (Joe and Max) Jeremy (Shannon, Ruby and Reese) for all their help especially this last week. We want to thank Alex for meeting this challenge with courage and optimism and accepting help with grace. Private Cremation. Condolences may be offered to the family below.

Cheers Al
