I am late to this information and am so sorry that Allen has passed . The last time I saw Allan was when He visited my wife and I in Calgary in 1985. I took Allen to see the Calgary Stampede grand stand show then. Tommy Hunter was the featured performer that evening. We all made our way to stand near the stage within 15 feet of Tommy Hunter singing a variety of songs. Allen knew one of the songs and started singing loud and clear along with Tommy. I never knew how well Allen could sing. Allen’s singing was impressive and this caught the attention of Tommy Hunter from the stage. With that Allen smiled and Tommy continued singing along with Allen’s voice joining in from in front of the stage. Wishing I could talk with Allen one more time, I have so many stories I wanted to share with him. Allen’s mother was a sister to my Great Grandmother Kirk. They were born into the Paterson family in Scotland. I have hand stitched picture of a pheasant Allen made for my Grandmother Peggy . It was passed down to me. Every time I looked at it I would think of Allen . Much love to the family.

We do however remember Allen when we all worked in the Dockyard. His happy demeanor and infectious laugh gladdened many hearts as did his famous oat cakes.
