May 26, 1928 – July 4, 2012
We are saddened to report the passing of Andy, on July 4, 2012, at Royal Jubilee Hospital, Victoria, B.C., in his 85th year, following a brief illness. He leaves behind his wife Carren, and his children, David (Judy), Barbara, Jane (Tim Elliott), Allan (Gloria), Stuart (Janine) and Peter (Ewelina), as well as 12 grandchildren. Andy was predeceased by his parents, Alec and Ruth Love of Quebec City, his brother Robert of Victoria and sister Lois (McIntosh) of Toronto. Andy is survived by many nephews and nieces, as well as countless long-time friends who will have fond memories of Andy.
Andy was born and raised in Quebec City, as the fourth generation of an English speaking family. He attended McMaster University (’50) and upon graduation moved back to Quebec where he worked in the storage and moving business, before relocating to Victoria in 1980. He was a long-time member of Rotary Club International and Lambrick Park Church.
Andy had a passion for painting and boating. At one time he owned a gallery at the Chateau Frontenac Hotel, dealing in original paintings, mostly by Quebec artists. He also enjoyed boating and sailing in his early years at his home on Lac Beauport, and later in Victoria. He especially loved his annual vacations spent with Carren in Mexico.
Special thanks to many family and friends and also to the doctors, nurses , staff and volunteers at The Royal Jubilee Hospital and McCall’s Funeral (Victoria).
A Celebration of Life for Andy will take place on Friday August 17 from 2 – 4pm at Lambrick Park Church 1780 Feltham Road Saanich BC (250) 477-9721.
In lieu of flowers, donations to the Rotary Club International and the Alzheimer Society of BC would be gratefully appreciated. Condolences may be offered to the family below.
