Posted to Victoria she drove trucks and chauffered military dignitaries including Maj. Gen. George Pearkes. She was posted to Toronto to assist with the arrival of War Brides and children. In 1946 she left the Army and returned to Saskatoon, graduating from hairdressing school. She moved to Edmonton and worked as a store clerk in Woodward’s. She married Lloyd Fox (RCAF) in 1948 in Edmonton. Various military postings included Trenton, Ontario; Bagotville, Quebec; Zweibrucken, Germany; Metz, France; Ottawa and Cold Lake, Alberta. After Lloyd’s retirement in 1970, they moved to Port Alberni to be near his family. They moved to Victoria in 1971 after Lloyd’s parents died. I last saw Aunt Anne in 2002 on a trip out west with my dad and her sense of humour was as keen as ever. I guess that comes from having nine other siblings (including six brothers) who in her opinion needed keeping in line from time to time! On behalf of our family, we offer our condolences on her passing and also want to let you know that you are in our thoughts and prayers.

I have wonderful memories of my aunt. She would come to Winnipeg often. We loved watching her cruise up in her Mustang, she was always so glamorous and hip. Her visit was filled with much laughter and buzz cuts for everyone. She would make me laugh as she would stand over the fan, allowing the fan to blow directly on her. She said one day I would understand. I get it! I will remember her and the great times she shared so generously with me. I sorry for the loss of your mom, I hope your special memories will help you celebrate her life and love for each of you. Love Deborah Stoesz
