August 29, 1921 – December 21, 2013

Passed away peacefully at her Sunrise home, family at her side. Predeceased by her soulmate and husband of 66 years, Arthur Currie, and brothers Lewis and Colin Scobie, she is survived by brother David Scobie, sister Constance Pike (Charles), and sister-in-law Velda Scobie, and her children John (Laureen), David (Carol), Margaret (Kent), Janet (Steve) and Sheila (Fred). Anne was the proud and enthusiastic grandmother of sixteen grandchildren: Andrew (Joana), Shannon (Michael), and Alison (Michael); Meg, Colin, Ashley and Hunter; Alex and Callum; Adam B., Eric, and Adam N.; and Kirsten, Zachary, Elijah, and Matthew. She would have relished the opportunity to see and hold the very recent additions to the family: her great-grandson Oliver and great-granddaughter Emma.

Born and raised in Rosetown Sask, Anne was always a prairie girl at heart, even when transplanted to Toronto (1950-1961), Ottawa (until 1995), and finally Victoria.  After teacher training at U. Sask, Anne was a popular schoolteacher, piano teacher and church organist. Her athletic gifts varied from being captain of the varsity hockey team, to swimming daily at the family cottage she and Art built and enjoyed with family and friends for nearly 60 years. Anne’s gift for nurturing, her sense of humour, and love of life were appreciated by all she met.  The Currie family is sincerely grateful for the exceptionally loving care Anne received from the staff at her Sunrise home over the past two years.

A Memorial Service to celebrate Anne’s life will be held at McCall’s Chapel, Johnson and Vancouver streets in Victoria on Friday, December 27th at 2 pm with a reception to follow. Interment at Pinecrest Cemetery, Ottawa, will be at a later date. To honour Anne’s life, donations may be made to The Alzheimer Society, Presbyterian World Service and Development, or a charity of your choice.  Condolences may be offered to the family below.

    Dear Curie Family:
Sincere Sympathy and Condolences to everyone:
I grew up on a farm near Rosetown, SK – knew Ann & Family but when I entered High School in Town Ann had left for Normal School. Our paths crossed again in Toronto when we were married in October 1959 her husband Art was our Minister. Then here in Victoria October 2009 for our 50th Anniversary we were truly blessed with their attendance at our party too help us celebrate.
Ann was a lovely lady – her and Art made a wonderful couple – now they are reunited again for ever.
