It is with heavy hearts that we honour the life of Bakhshish Singh Nagra, son of Shaheed Dhanna Singh and Mahon Kaur, who peacefully passed away on March 18, 2025, at the remarkable age of 104. He was born in 1921 and was the mayor (sarpanch) of his village Behbalpur, District Hoshiarpur, Punjab, India, for over 25 years. He immigrated to Victoria, BC, Canada, in 1969, where he served as the President of the Khalsa Diwan Society in 1994. He has assisted over 150 people to immigrate to Canada. He created countless community initiatives in India and Canada that still continue to support many people even today.

He was predeceased by his beloved wife, Surjeet Kaur, his sister Swarn Kaur Gill (Karam Singh), and his brother Mohan Singh. He leaves behind his four beloved sons: Satwant Singh (Surinder Kaur), Amarjit Singh (Balvinder Kaur), Sarabjit Singh (Jaswinder Kaur), and his youngest Gurdip Singh (Daljit Kaur). He is also survived by 17 grandchildren and 16 great-grandchildren, who will cherish his memory and legacy.

He had an incredible zest for life, a deep love for family, and a passion for technology. He was a life long learner, loved to travel, and enjoyed basking in the sun. He prioritized wellness and stayed optimistic. He cherished staying connected with loved ones from across the globe, always making time for the people who mattered the most.
