Passed away peacefully at Victoria, BC on August 23, 2010 at the age of 72 years. Born in Winnipeg, Manitoba, predeceased by his parents, David and Ruby.
Lovingly remembered by his wife of 48 years, Deanna; daughters, Dawn (George) of Kelowna, BC, Leigh (Kevin) of Winnipeg, MB and Coleen (Nathael) of Victoria, BC; granddaughters, Lily, Grace and Claire; and brother, Dave (Debbie) of Winnipeg, MB.
Barry worked as a business machine technician in Winnipeg and Victoria, then a transit operator and instructor at Winnipeg Transit and later worked at BC Transit in Victoria. He loved and excelled at many sports (known as “Cannonball Rob” when he water skied) and coached women’s softball in Victoria. He also loved tinkering with cars, gardening, Shawnigan Lake, road trips and being “grandpa” to his “little ones.”
Thanks to the staff at James Bay Care Centre for their kindness during the past year and a half.
A celebration of Barry’s life will be held at GORDON UNITED CHURCH, 935 Goldstream Avenue in Langford on Monday, August 30, 2010 at 2:00 pm with the Reverend Heidi Koschzeck officiating. A reception will take place at the church hall immediately after the service.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the charity of choice.
