1943 – 2026

It is with deep sadness that we announce the passing of Barry Wayne Harris, age 83, of Victoria, BC, on September 24, 2026.

Born in Calgary, Alberta, Barry was a beloved husband, father, grandfather, brother, brother-in-law, and friend. He shared 58 years of marriage with his wife, Gwen, who was by his side throughout their life together. Their enduring love and devotion were a beautiful and meaningful part of Barry’s life.

Barry will be lovingly remembered by his son Todd,(Jodie) and their son Boone; his son Ross and his triplets, Hayden, Hunter, and Harper; his sister Heather and her family, Julie, Jennifer, and Isaac; his brother-in-law Allen(Jane); and their kids Christie (Kyle), and Curtis.

Family was always at the centre of Barry’s life. He never missed an opportunity to watch his grandson Boone play hockey and lacrosse, always standing in his familiar corner of the rink where everyone knew Grandpa Harris would be watching. It was his spot, and seeing him there became a familiar and special part of Boone’s games.

Barry looked forward each night to talking with Hayden, Hunter, and Harper. He loved hearing about their lives and was always amazed at how quickly they were growing up. His grandson’s brought him tremendous pride and happiness, and the time he spent watching them grow and sharing in their lives meant the world to him.

These moments, along with the love, laughter, and time he shared with those closest to him, will remain treasured memories for his family.

Barry’s kindness, devotion, humour, and genuine joy in talking with everyone he met touched the lives of all who knew him. He had a way of striking up a conversation wherever he went and truly enjoyed connecting with people. He leaves behind a legacy of love, laughter, and cherished memories in the hearts of his family and friends.

He will be deeply missed, lovingly remembered, and forever cherished.

Rest peacefully, Barry.

Condolences may be offered to the family below.

  1. Barry, sure loved his family first and then people in general! He was our own neighbourhood watch and corner Guardian!
Everyday he would do a walkabout, or a drive about, (sometimes solo, sometimes with his lovely wife Gwen) to make sure everything was cool in the neighbourhood.
Barry did an amazing job of keeping his yard and garden well maintained!
The many hours he spent outside keeping everything looking so good also gave him a chance to chat with all the passers-by with whom he’d share a smile; a laugh; a story – usually about his grandkids – or a “Oh Hey. How ya doin’?”
    Barry will definitely be missed!
I’m glad I had the chance to know him. Thanks Barry, for everything!
    Rest in peace!
