SONDERS, Carl Peter Lewis Passed away suddenly at the Victoria General Hospital on September 9th, 2005 at the age of 82 years. Born in Broderick, Saskatchewan on October 13, 1922. Predeceased by his loving wife Karin of 49 years, sisters Victoria, Elizabeth Dorothy and brother Alex. Lovingly remembered by his daughter Karin-Ann Henry, grandchildren Coreen Burtini and Nicole Cooke, greatgrandchildren Tony and Marco Burtini, his sister Anna Carruthers and husband Eric and many nieces, nephews and friends. Carl’s career was in the Royal Canadian Navy for 25 years retiring in 1966 as a Chief Petty Officer. He also worked for Indian Affairs Agency in Nanaimo and the Pacific Forest Research Centre. He was a devout Catholic spending many years visiting the sick in Victoria hospitals and homes bringing holy communion. For many years he was a member of St. Vincent de Paul Society. He gave his love and devotion to Our Lady Queen of Peace Parish, St.Joseph’s Church, Our Lady of the Rosary, St.Patrick’s Church and St.Andrew’s Cathedral. He also belonged to many Cenacle Prayer groups who helped him through this difficult time. Special thanks to Victoria General Hospital staff on 6D for all their support. Prayers will be held at McCall Bros. Chapel on Wednesday September 14th at 7:00pm. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at St.Andrew’s Cathedral, Blanshard & View on Thursday September 15th at 12:10pm with Father John Laszczyk celebrating. Private cremation entrusted to the family for burial at sea. Reception to take place at St. Andrew’s Parish Centre, 740 View Street.
