Peacefully on October 10, 2009 Kata passed away at her home, 80 years young.
Kata was born in Kindersley, Saskatchewan and lived and worked in Calgary before retiring to Victoria BC.
Beloved mother, grandmother and sister, she leaves her daughter Carol Groot; grandchildren Carly and Nathan; 2 sisters, twin Ena Drysdale of Calgary and Mary (Bernie) McCarron of Victoria BC and niece Barbara.
Kata was a long time member of Uplands Golf Club where she spent many joy filled hours with her dear friends.
Special thanks for the wonderful care provided by VIHA and Eldersafe, especially Sonja, Naomi, Pauline and Asia.
Service will be held at McCall Bros. Floral Chapel, Johnson and Vancouver St. on Tuesday, October 20th at 1:00 pm. Reception to follow at Uplands Golf Club.

I am so very sorry to hear of your loss. I visited a few times during your Mom’s illness. She was so very positive in winning this battle.
She was my locker neighbour at the Club. We alway enjoyed visits and getting in a few games of Golf together. Never a dull moment.
Enjoy the fun times comparing our collection of wild long soxs for golf. Will miss her for Sunday noon visits – wine and snacks.

Dear Carol, I just learned of your mom’s passing. We were neighbours and friends for 14 years and spent many happy Sunday afternoons having a glass of wine together. I am so sorry I didn’t manage to talk to her before she passed away. She was such a vibrant lady and we always had a good laugh together.
