It is with heavy hearts we announce the passing of our beloved wife, mother, Grandma and friend after a 14 yr. battle with dementia. She was pre-deceased by her parents, Hugh and Catherine Watson. “Cathie” is survived by her loving husband, George Devlin, two children, Christopher Devlin (Claire Handley), Heather Lang (Richard Lang), and three grandchildren, Liam, Josh and Kalina. Cathie is remembered for her vivacious personality, love of family, depth of compassion, her appreciation of the arts, event coordinating, volunteering at the Queen
Alexander Centre for children with significant disabilities, teaching aerobics at the YMCA/YWCA, and her interest in dance. Happiness is knowing your recovery is complete, your soul is replenished and your path is renewed. May we all remember and rejoice in our memories of you.

A Celebration of Life will be held in the Sequoia Centre at McCall Gardens, 4665 Falaise Dr. Victoria, on Friday, Feb 27th, 2026 at 2p.m. with Life Tribute Celebrant – Laura Lee Parris officiating.

The family wish to thank the Special Care Unit at Age Care James Bay, who cared for Cathie over the last several years. We would also like to acknowledge Cathie’s private care aide, Arden, who gave the gift of companionship, love and respite support. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Alzheimer Society of British Columbia.

Condolences may be offered to the family below.

Hello George and family. I am very sorry to read of Cathie’s paassing. She was a very vivacious and energetic person. 14 Years is a very long time for Cathie and you all to be coping with dementia. It must have been a great strain for all. I hope that you will be able to recover soon.
Cathie and my late wife, Carol, met in 1968 when they shared a room in the Jubilee Hospital maternity ward, each with their first child. Although our paths haven’t crossed for several years, Carol never forgot that winter had extreme snowfall. Both mothers were feeling cooped up in their house. Cathie pushed a buggy and child in the very deep snow from Union Road around the corner to our house on Ascot Drive. A very hard push for a visit .
    With deepest sympathy, Phil Winterbottom

  • Randy Hetherington

Aunt Cathy was a true community leader, who balanced the needs of her family with a commitment to helping those in need. Uncle George, Chris and Heather were especially proud of her as a loving wife and mother as were Liam, Josh and Kalina, as their grandmother. I remember fondly the gatherings on Munro and Rock Heights and how well organized Aunt Cathy always was, even with a houseful. She was kind and caring and always made time when my wife and I came for a visit. I will remember her that way…always.
