Born October 5, 1950, to Mervin and Wylo Stewart, Dianne passed peacefully while surrounded by her entire family at home on May 18, 2018. She is survived by her husband and true love Brock; ever-grateful children Jesse (Catherine), Dylan (Andrea), and Reid; kindred grandchildren William and Charlotte; dear siblings Doug and Deryl; and loving nephew Sean, and grand-nephew Gabriel.

We were all so lucky to be illuminated by Dianne’s light – an endless well of compassion, courage, and emotional fortitude.  In 35 years as an RN, she fiercely protected anybody willing to accept help, often seeking out good in people that they themselves had misplaced.  Throughout her life, Dianne has sewn together a tapestry of incredible friends – and while some are farther apart from others on her quilt, the effervescent fabric that was her love will keep them together.  As displayed by her glee upon learning it was her 21st birthday from a Serbian border agent while riding her motorcycle, Disie didn’t need much from this world – but that didn’t stop her from giving as much, and as often as she could.

The family offers our sincere thanks and respect to all healthcare workers, regardless of how direct/peripheral their role.  As well our endless gratitude to all family friends who have cushioned each bump in the road with solace and grace.

A Service will be held Friday,  June 8, 2018, at 2:00 pm in the Sequoia Center at McCall Gardens Royal Oak location, 4665 Falaise Drive, Victoria, BC.

Condolences may be offered to the family below.

I know this comes very late, but I just found out about your loss. Brock, I am so sorry to hear about your wife. I know that she delivered one of my grandchildren and Heather was very thankful for her help. I am wondering how you are doing and sending hugs and deepest sympathy.
Didn’t get the chance to tell you but you were a wonderful Dr. and I really miss talking with you.

    Brock and all the family,
I had the privilege of working with Dianne for many years in LDR. I do not ever remember working a shift with her that you and the kids and grandkids did not come up in conversation. She was always ready to smile and laugh…and listen and offer support and advice. She was a wonderful person and touched many lives in a positive and meaningful way. Her loss will be felt deeply by everyone that knew her. May your cherished memories give you some comfort in these difficult days.

Brock, Dylan, Andrea, Will, Charlotte, Reid, Jesse, Catherine,

My heart hurts for you, reading this devastating news. Dianne was one of the most loving, dedicated, and generous people I have ever met. Her love for all of you and how she expressed it was truly spectacular to behold. She was the best mother that anyone could have ever asked for, and I’m so grateful to have known her and to have had the honour of witnessing her love for you. I will never forget or be able to repay the profound kindness and deep care she afforded me. I know she must be so proud to live on in all of you – you who she loved beyond measure, you who were the reason for her existence. If such a thing as solace is possible during this time or in the coming months, I wish that for you.

Dear Brock and family: I cannot imagine your loss and hope it gives you a little comfort knowing that she will be missed by many. I worked with Dianne for many years and she was delightful and expressive. I picture her knitting her extremely colorful socks while talking about her whole family with respect and warmth! (dogs too) I remember her large expressive brown eyes knowing that a fun comment was about to be said. She was a privilege to know and work with and will be missed. My thoughts are with you. Wendy

    Dear Fraser Family,

I am so saddened by Dianne’s passing. She touched all of us. Dianne was the reason I went into nursing. I aspired to be like her and she was my mentor in so many ways. As your babysitter for the kids back in the day she, without knowing, guided me through many points in my life. She was there with me when my daughter was born. She will always hold a special spot in my heart forever!
My love and heart is with you and your family. I will be there at the service.

    Brock & Family,

I met Diane through our work in LDR at the Victoria General Hospital 28 years ago. Although I didn’t get to know her well, it was obvious that she was a kind and gentle soul, always willing to help others and share her experience and knowledge. Diane always made people feel important because she had the gift of listening.

My heart goes out to you Brock and to the family that she so loved and admired and spoke so highly of. May you find some solace, at this time of sadness, in knowing she was very loved.
