Our beloved Cory was taken from us suddenly and will be so deeply missed and forever cherished in our hearts. Cory is survived by his father, Craig (Karen); his mother, Lori; his sister, Stacy; grandfather, Larry Quast and many other family and friends whom he held close to his heart. Predeceased by his great-grandmother, Jessie Hamilton; grandmother, May Westall and grandmother, Diana Quast, whom he will join in heaven. Cory was on his way to a bright and brilliant future as a pipefitter at Victoria Ship Yard. His love for life along with his charismatic personality will live on forever in our hearts.

I am so sorry I was unable to attend the celebration of Cory’s life last weekend as I was looking forward to seeing and reminiscing with some of the Tillicum kids, even though it is such a sad time for all. I remember Cory as an energetic, very amusing little kid with a huge personality. His smile would light up a classroom and make everyone around him feel good. Stewart family, I am so very saddened by your loss. Take good care of each other at this difficult time, and take time to remember and enjoy the funny memories and stories that are Cory’s legacy.

    Ann George (Tillicum School)

    Dear Craig, Lori and family,

I went to school with Cory and I’m truly very saddened for your loss. He was to young to have left your guys arms, just to young.. I said a prayer for him today and will be thinking of him and although we didn’t really know each other that well he and you all will surely be in my thoughts. I wish I had heard earlier if I did I would off attended his cermony to pay my respects. I lost my brother at 21 back in 2001 and no parent should ever have to bury their child, no one! Much love for you Cory and your family! Wishing you all the best! Chins up it will get better!

    Dear Craig, Lori and Stacy,
There are no words that can possibly state the heartfelt pain I am feeling for you all at this time. But I want you all to know, Cory was truly loved and supported by me, and I was personally so very proud of his accomplishments and his becoming a Plumber/Pipefitter, he was proud too… I thoroughly enjoyed being witness to his endeavours, with courage, and that beautiful smile. Each time I ran into him, he was overjoyed to share with me the positive steps along the way to his goal of becoming a journeyman….my final memory, will hopefully make you smile, as when I last saw Cory, he picked me up in the air, swung me around and thanked me for all my support. Just melted my heart….It was my sincere pleasure to be a part of his success on any level, he was a lovely beautiful deserving young man…. I loved him to pieces….he will be fondly remembered with a smile….love to all of you during this very difficult time…
    Winnie

  • Sandy King

    Hello,

I am very saddened to hear of your loss. Cory was in my first Planning 10 class at Spectrum. I was a band teacher learning to teach a new subject. I remember Cory well and I enjoyed his exuberant personality, altho challenging at times, he did become one of my biggest supporters, especially when I screwed up! He and his buddy kept me honest! I will never forget those two. My maiden name is Stewart so we often wondered if we were related. I remember he talked about pipefitting even back then. I have fond memories of Cory. I have some photos of that class and Cory if you would like them.
    I send my deepest condolences.
    Sandy King
