WILLIAMS, Daniel Stewart (aka Danny, Monkey, SuperBanker)

Born February 12th, 1973, in New Westminster, B.C., Dan was taken from us suddenly, but peacefully on November 24th, 2009 in Boyle, Alberta. Beloved son of Daryl & Barbara Williams (nee: McCall); dearest brother of Craig (Katalin) and adored Uncle to Benjamin & Mia. He also leaves behind his loving and devoted fiancée, and soulmate, Michelle Galenzoski, and her family, as well as numerous aunts, uncles, cousins and countless people Dan referred to as friends and cousins across North America.

Dan had many passions for which he will be remembered. After family, which was always first for Dan, fishing, golfing, and hunting were always on the top of his list. He would often be found trolling the waters off Sooke and Oak Bay searching for the elusive Tyee, spending time with his “second” family at Uplands Golf Course where he honed his handicap to a “3.9”, or spending endless hours hunting with his dear cousin Scott Adams, and great friends Cameron Naqvi and Neil Tickell, amongst others.

In his professional life, Dan was a very respected and successful member of the BMO Mortgage Specialist Team, a career that he enjoyed immensely. As a result of the friendships he shared, his absence weighs heavily on the team. He was an incredible colleague and friend, and will be missed deeply.

Dan was never happier than when he was spending time with his love Michelle and his dog Tucker, away on his boat “Banker’s Hours”.

Visitation will be held at McCall Bros. Floral Chapel, Johnson & Vancouver Streets, on Wednesday and Thursday, December 2nd & 3rd, 2009 from 7 to 9 p.m. A Funeral Service will be held to honour Dan and celebrate his life at St. Aidan’s United Church, 3703 St. Aidan’s Street on Friday, December 4th, 2009 at 10:30 a.m. Burial entrusted to Royal Oak Burial Park. Reception to follow at Uplands Golf Course from 1 to 4 p.m. If so desired, donations in Dan’s memory may be made to the Uplands Heart Fund, 3300 Cadboro Bay Road, Victoria, B.C. V8R 5K5.

I was lucky to know Dan for three years at Brentwood where I coached him in tennis. He was always the life of the team – optimistic, fun-loving, enthusiastic. He created the light in people’s lives. He was a positive influence on everyone he touched. He will be greatly missed.

I feel I must send you a note to let you know I’m thinking of you every day Barb. I can’t imagine your grief and for sure, nothing I can say will change things. However, hope it helps just a little bit, to know others are thinking of you.
I will continue to remember your family in prayer for strength and comfort. Nothing in this life can prepare us for something such as this. A much loved son taken so early but what an impact he made on all he knew.

Just wanted to mention that it was a privilege to be part of Dan’s service today. It was more than evident that many people have so many fond memories and there were some fabulous words spoken about Dan…

I was introduced to Dan back in high school through cousin Scott and we had great times back in the day. It was bascially impossible not to like Dan – simply put, he was a genuinely great guy and I feel for Scott and Cousin Craig as I know how much they are hurting and how much they will miss him – I didn’t get a chance to see Dan much over the past several years – I wish I did and I will miss him too…

  • Jennifer McMynn

  • Phil McGregor

Mr. & Mrs Williams, Michelle and families please accept my sincere condolences for your tragic loss. I had the pleasure of hiring Dan into the position of Mortgage Specialist and coaching him through a difficult start up with the benefit of following his subsequent outstanding success. Dan was a focused yougman, passionate to be well regarded and successful. As his success grew I got the calls of his potential boat acquistion and advised him to be cautious and be prepared for rainy days in the business despite his success. For my mentoring on that day and the many days before it he tagged me as “Uncle Phil” a nick name I took great pride in after getting to know your son. We shared many passions for personal success as well as the fun shared with friends out hunting and fishing. I will always remember a great day of fishing with Dan off the south west of the Island with Cal & Jas and our stop to introduce his friends and say hello to his cousin and aunt & uncle who kindly took us into their new property for a visit. I will remember Dan for what he was, kind, generous, driven, compasionate, honest, and most importantly respectful of his family and personal relationships. He will always have a special place in my heart as he was born 9 days before our eldest son who we regrettably lost to cancer at 8 years of age, a little story I wish I had shared with him. Your time now is filled with hurt and grief but in time you will heal and remember your son, brother, soul mate, relative, and friend to many as the great youngman he was and how proud you are of him and what he was and what he accomplished . I will miss him. Regards Phil

  • Rob Attwell

For many years Dan was the happy-go-lucky guy at Water Pure & Simple who was always willing to make the extra effort for a customer or co-worker. It was never a problem for Dan to look after people – he did everything so effortlessly, nothing was too much and he always arrived at work and every customer’s door with a smile on his face – and what a great smile.

The WPS gang only knew Dan by his nickname ‘Wild Steelhead’ for his obsession with fishing. Dan was the best of golfing buddies and a friend. We always wondered how he managed to be good at fishing and golf – It takes a special person to do both well – the rest of us struggle to do one well.

The Willams and McCall Families, dear Craiger, Michelle, Daryl, Barb, Scott, and all friends to Dan – we share your grief and look forward to a day when we can look back and smile remembering this fantastic guy.

I hope for the rest of my days to be more like Dan Williams.

    Please accept our deepest condolences.

I remember when he and Jeremy went up to Duncan to bring back Cali, the dog that ended up being my constant companion for 13 years. Words cannot express how bad I feel for all of you. Please know that we are constantly thinking of you at this time.
