I just found out about David’s passing. I am shocked. I worked with Dave and Lee at Sears way back in the early 80’s. We all had so much fun. It was rare in those days for a woman to work in men’s wear. I became a very good friend of him and Jeri and was happy when they had Spencer. I moved to the US and met my husband. I took my new husband to Victoria for our honeymoon. Typical Dave he got us a honeymoon suite in a lovely hotel but not before him and Jeri went in and glittered and short sheeted our bed. I will miss you my friend. Condolences to the family

I will always remember David – Dave – Our “Dapper Dave” as he was known to many of us who knew him as a DJ for special functions – dances and weddings. We called him ‘our music man’ as he was such an integral part of our entertainment group “The Hats & Honeys” from 1982 – 1993. Not only did he perform with us – but – he was always ready to supply the music for our performances and firehall functions. Dave was there … he was the best!!!

On a personal note – I think of Dave as someone who was always happy to see you, pleasant, very kind, and ready to oblige.

He was a great friend and I …. along with my family … will miss him.

We used to work together at Sears, that was a few moonlights, sunsets, springs and summers ago.

I remember Dave was such a handsome man and he spoke with a British accent. One day I saw him dating the beautiful manager of the photo studio, the two of them fit so well. Had they walked down Hollywood boulevard, the had nothing to envy Clint Eastwood or Marilyn Monroe of the time. Dave was on cloud nine, he was climbing the stairs at the back of the store 4 steps at a time, in the meantime holding the hand of the woman…years later when I saw him at the Mayfair mall, I told him this story and Dave had a chuckle!

I remember Dave also when he was DJ at the Christmas party at Sears when he was the light and sound of the party, our daughter and son had a whale of a time thanks to him and Austin who was the Santa Claus

I missed Dave, may he rest in Peace and with all the ones that Dave had touched their life as he had touched mine, may I said Dave has left Victoria a little better place and filled many hearts with joy and wonder.

Very saddened to hear of Dave’s passing. I had worked with Dave at Sears and enjoyed his humour and words of encouragement to me very much…
He was always willing to take the time for a new recruit and showed kindness and patience in teaching me the ropes.

The many times over the years we would meet were always full of laughter and fond memories of my time at Sears.
Dave you will be missed my brother….
Prayers got up to your family and friends.

    love and peace

I was so deeply shocked and saddened to learn of Dave’s passing. I hadn’t heard that Dave was ill and am so sorry for the family’s loss.

He was such a wonderful kind man, full of laughter and very comical.

Dave and I went back over 30 years and I’ll always remember him when I hear “Sir Duke”, our special song.

My deepest condolences to the family.

We were shocked to hear of Dave’s death. I had a lovely chat with him in the dollar store last fall. He was happy. He had reached the milestone , 65 , and said he was going to continue working as what else would he do with his time. We had fun in the early 80’s at the Langford firehall where he was the DJ at the many functions. We laughed at his comic rendition in the “Hats and Honeys” a popular fund raising group for the Burns’s Unit.

Rest in Peace “Dapper Dave “

To All the Family My deepest sympathy goes out to you, I was so shocked to read in the paper of Daves passing, didn’t realize he was ill. I knew Dave when from when he worked down in the men’s wear at Sears , i worked up in the restaurant for a long time.at Sears. Dave was always so kind to me and told me when I was out of work to think positive……he gave me suggestions too where to look for work. I will miss him to talk too as I sometimes would pop in to the dollar store at the Bay Centre..My thoughts are with you at this of sorrow ……..Cathy
