Donald Edward Singlehurst passed away peacefully at Victoria General Hospital on January 10th, 2024.

Born in Northampton England on April 16th, 1928, Don at an early age wanted to travel the world which he did as an accomplished musician in the British and Canadian Armed Forces.

When Don came to Canada, he raised a family and eventually retired from the Naden Band in Victoria, BC. Retirement didn’t last long. He became a Real Estate Agent in the 1980’s, and then his passion for music led Don to pursue a Bachelor of Arts music degree from the University of Victoria, something he cherished as the oldest student in the class. Along with music, Don loved the game of golf and was a proud long-term member of the Royal Colwood Golf Club.

Don leaves behind his wife Elizabeth, his son Don (Rose), daughter Jacqueline and granddaughters Kelsey, Michelle and Rosanna. In Northampton, England, he leaves behind his brothers John, Brian and Michael, as well as many extended family members.

No service by request. There will be a family gathering at a later date to celebrate a life well lived.

Folks – wow, this brings back memories. Don was one of my clarinet co-conspirators at UVic (and a better musician than me by far) We *still* have the wedding gift he gave my wife and me in 1989! Keep on making music Don! Regards and condolences to you all.
